"Oh my god I can't believe it's my first year at Hogwarts!" You thought excitedly to yourself. You looked out the window of the train to see the beautiful landscape stretching as far as the eye could see. Off in the distance, you could just barely make out the castle.
"Guys we're almost there!" You exclaimed loudly.
"Really?" The three others with you asked eagerly looking out the window.
Ron.
Harry.
And last but not least, Hermione.
"Yes, I can almost see the castle!"

25 minutes later

You 4 quickly piled off the train with your luggage. You waved goodbye to your 3 new friends and took off in another direction. You could hardly wait to get into the great hall and under the sorting hat that your parents told you so much about. Your parents, Lucinda and Marcus, were good people. Kind people. Sure they were pure blood, but it wasn't quite as important to them as it was to others. They told you before you got on the train that it would be best for you not to get too attached to people. Especially boys. When you asked them why not, they explained that although they were more easy going about being purebloods, they allowed you to be friends with non-purebloods, But, they would prefer you to be with a pureblood. As in marry one. You made a grossed out face because you were still in that awkward "boys are stupid" phase. Your father just laughed and said "That's my girl."

The great hall

"Better be... Gryffindor!" The hall cheered and clapped as Harry walked over to the Gryffindor table. You clapped as well but you knew your mind was dead set on Slytherin. Your parents had always hoped you would be a Slytherin girl. Before you knew it, it was your turn in the hot seat. You walked up and sat down. Professor McGonagall placed the sorting hat on your head. "Hmm.. This won't take long!" Screamed the sorting hat.
"This one is a..."
Your eyes clenched shut praying for Slytherin..
"SLYTHERIN!"
Your eyes shot open and you smiled proudly. Making your way over to the Slytherin table, a boy with white platinum hair grinned and waved you over to sit next to him. You smiled and excepted the invitation.
"Name's Malfoy. Draco Malfoy."
"Cherish. Cherish Rosier." He raises his eyebrows at the mention of your surname. "You're a pure blood." He asked, or rather stated like he knew it right off the bat. "Yes." You reply. "How did you know that?" "Ive heard your surname before. i believe your parents and mine are friends."  "Well i hope we can be friends." You said with a smile. He smiled in return.

As the year went by you two became quite the pair. Sitting together in class, eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner together in the great hall.  Hanging out in the common room. Regular pals. although, you weren't too happy about the way he treated other students. Especially Ron, Harry and Hermione. But, Just as your parents taught you. You always tried to see the best in people. Even Draco thinking he was better than everyone else because like you, he was a pure blood.

One day towards the end of the year, Draco turned a corner to see you in conversation with Hermione and hugging each other as you parted ways. You spotted him and waved him over. You noticed the angry/disgusted look on his face. "What's got your wand in a knot?" You asked playfully punching his arm. "What were you doing talking to that filthy mudblood?" You looked at him as if he had slapped you in the face. "DRACO! THAT'S NOT NICE! SHE IS A VERY SWEET PERSON AND VERY INTELLIGENT! SO WHAT IF SHE ISN'T OF OUR BLOOD!?" Seeing his face change from anger to surprised, you calmed down a bit. "Look, I'm sorry I shouted at you . It's just.. My parents told me that mudbloods and half bloods aren't necessarily bad people. I can befriend them. We just can't marry them when we get older. I don't know about you but, Im definitely not going to marry Hermione." He laughed at that last part. **giggling** "No I'm definitely not going to marry one either. My parents have already instilled in me that it's forbidden as well." Judging by his laughter and friendly demeanor returning. You assumed that you both were on good terms again.

With the year ending, you both were looking forward to returning back home for the summer. Draco gave you his address and asked you to write to him over the summer. You smiled and nodded. He hugged you and you both parted ways.

...If you had known this would be that last time you'd see him for 3 years.. You would've hugged him a little tighter and longer than you had..
