Chapter Three

An hour or so later Elizabeth came back through the front door and shouted from the stairs.

"Raya? Are you here?"

I quickly wipe away my tears with the back of my hand and stand at the top of the stairs.

"Y-yeah...I'm here" I mutter.

"Oh good, you didn't get caught!! Anyways I was thinking of getting our favourite take away! To celebrate our good work" she seemed oddly happy about it, more happy than usual. I can't tell why she's acting so different.

"I'm not hungry..." The last thing I wanted to do was eat, I just want to curl up in my bed and cry all night long.

"Oh come on Raya! Don't spoil it now!"

"...f-fine but I don't want a lot"

" yay! I'm guessing you want your usual?"

"Mmhmm"

"Okay, I'll call you down when it gets here!"

I walk back into my room and fall face first onto my bed. I groan and think about today's events. Tears formed in my eyes once more and I started to cry again. Not long after, I hear the door bell, and Elizabeth calling out my name for me to come down. I really didn't want to. But I had no choice but to do so.

After dinner I headed back up stairs and tried to sleep. I eventually did fall asleep but soon waking up to my alarm. I turn it off and get ready for school. 'Can I really go after yesterday?' I think to myself as I slowly walk down the stairs, being greeted by Elizabeth at the bottom.

"Good morning Raya! I'm going to school earlier today as I have to study with a friend but I'll see you after school!" And with that she left.

"Great..." I mutter under my breath.

Lunch Time:
As usual I'd go to the roof and eat. But to my surprise Ade is there, sitting on the same bench that I usually do.

"What are you doing here Ade?" I question.

"I told you...I'm not taking no for an answer and I'm not just going to let a friend sit by themselves am I?" He said smiling and his green eyes twinkling. I blush a tiny bit and sit with him on the bench.

"Well...I guess it won't hurt just this once"

"No!"

"Huh? What?"

"We are BOTH going to come here together and eat our lunch TOGETHER" he says, giving me a little glare. My mouth forms a little O shape and I stare at him and then look away.

"There's no getting rid of you is there?" I joke and a small smile appeared on my face.

"Ha! I made you smile! I haven't seen you do that since primary!"

"Pfft, I have smiled..." That's a lie, I haven't smiled at all, not with Elizabeth making me kill people.

"Sureeeee you have"

'So this is what it's like to have a friend...I'd almost forgotten what it was like..' I thought.

"So how about we hang out after school?" His face turned to me and he was smiling...it was kinda cute actually. "Oh! And your sister, bring her too!"

"Wait what?!"

"Have you not heard? My brother has a hugeeeee crush on her and I'm trying to get them together and at the same time I can get to know you better."

"Elizabeth won't like that...but I'll try" I knew full down well what she'd do but I can stop her, she needs to realise what actual love is supposed to be like..no killing.

"Great! Meet me at the front of the school when the day is over!" He said with a big grin. I chuckle and smile.

" okay, see you then"

I can't help but feel somewhat excited for this. Do I finally have a friend after so many years?
