Moana P.O.V
I thought a mother was always suppose to love their child, not hurt them ,but I guess I was wrong my mom did not love me she died hitting me.
*Flashback of how mom died *
My mother had just gotten back to the house with her boyfriend Larry, they were drinking as usual. Larry was weird and would always try to come on to me, and it would make my mother angry she would blame me for it, but I didn't care she was still my mother and I loved her .
After Larry stop flirting with me and left the house my mother came over and started hitting me and saying horrible things. All of sudden the beatings stopped I turned around and saw my mother on the floor not breathing I checked for a pulse, nothing I reached for her cellphone and called 911.
" 911 whats your emergency?"
"My mother she's not breathing", I can feel my heart beating erratically as if it's about to fall out my chest any minute now
"Did you check her pulse?", the operator on the phone seemed less than interested probably because she knew the type of neighborhood we lived in and just thought that I was another black person with a druggy mother.
"Yes,still nothing", I feel myself getting frustrated, this woman keeps asking questions but has yet to send an ambulance
"Alright I sent over officers I need your name and age", I happily oblige
"My name is Moana King and I am 16"
"Thank you the officers should be over in a minute", she hangs up quickly. I go into my mothers room and take her comforter off her bed to put over her body that's beginning to get colder by the second.
"Don't worry Mommy you'll be okay", I try my best to not let the tears fall. I waited, waited, and waited the officers finally came an hour later.
Ding ding ding ding
I open the door too see two laughing police officers when they saw me their facial expressions turned serious.
"Are you Moana King?", the one with a pudgy stomach said
"Yes"
"Ok where is your mom"
"She is in the living room", I step aside to let the officers through I follow them to where my mother lay. I watch as they check for a pulse both of they're eyes showed guilt and sadness.
The officers told me to wait outside. I started thinking what would happen , will my mom be okay?why did she pass out?
"Excuse me", I turned around and see a neatly dressed black woman. "Yes". The woman comes closer to me "Are you Moana?" . "Yes I am", I could tell she was with social services just by the way she carried herself.
"Hi Moana", she smiles brightly but her eyes hold sadness
"Hi"
"My name is Kimberely Williams and I am with social service", I knew it
"Ok Hi Ms.Williams ", I've seen child protective services at my house to know what is already going on.
" I want to inform you that your mother has died I'm so sorry for your loss" , Ms. Williams looks at me with sad eyes.
I stumbled back a bit , the shock of my mother passing is hitting me in the head like a baseball. The last thing I remember seing before I passed out is Ms. Williams scared face.
I woke up in a hospital my social worker Kimberely was in my room talking to two caucasian people when they heard me moving around in my uncomfortable hospital bed they turned around to me.
"Hi Moana", the pretty white lady said
"Hello", I smile back at her
"Moana this Brittany and Thomas Welshire they are your new foster parents", Ms. Kimberley said beamingly. How could she just stick me with another family so quickly. I didn't even get to say goodbye to my mother.
How worst could this day get.
Flashback over
That's how I ended up on my way to Beverly Hills to live with a family I barely know, how fun right.
