Tony was sleeping beside me. He was sleeping to my right, but the soup was on the left side. A few steps after the bedside table sat the couch. Angelo was sleeping uncomfortably on the couch with his apron on. He had a bruise near his left temple, showing that some right-handed jerk punched my brother-in-law. The bruise was fresh, a new one, seemed to be done a night before.
Later that day, Angelo was avoiding Tony. Tony became stricter and prohibited me to get any step closer to his brother. I do not know what happened, but it was giving me a headache. I stayed in our room for the entire day.
Maria informed me that Tony went somewhere to talk to an important ally. Angelo visited me after Tony left. He brought in food for me. He was smiling despite the pain that his bruise seemed to give him. He knelt beside the bed where I sat. I looked at him with concern and brushed my fingers on his bruise. Angelo suddenly held my hand and kissed it. I was utterly shocked.
I was in a dilemma.
But then, something was telling me to follow what I feel. It was bothering me. I already have a husband. I couldn’t ask for any more.
But what is this? Why do I suddenly want to be with my husband’s twin?
Emotionally confused,
Suzanne.
