What started as excitement was quickly turning to anger. How was he not home? Simon never kept us past six unless we pissed him off, which literally never happened anymore. Louis was being responsible, since he was to be a father, and Harry didn't act up alone. Ever.

So I knew he wasn't at some rehearsal they didn't need me for. And I was pissed. I texted Liam to see if he knew what was going on.

Me: LiLi, have you seen Zayn? I'm freaking out. He went to rehearsal this morning and still isn't home.

LiLi: There was no rehearsal today. I would have told you yesterday.

Me: I was worried about that.

I turned my phone off, not wanting to see anymore, and knowing that if I didn't look at my texts, Li would just call me. I wasn't in the mood to talk. I also wasn't prepared to watch Zayn walk through the door calmly twenty minutes later. He was silent, thinking I was sleeping when I was actually sitting at the table in perfect view of the door, just waiting.

"Care to tell me where you've actually been all day? Because unless you have a damn good reason, you better walk right back out that door and crash at Harry's for a few days," I told him. He jumped and spun to face me.

"Haley why are you up? I came back around three, but you were sleeping, so I left again. I didn't want to wake you up," he told me, sitting down across from me and trying to take me hand.

"So you were at rehearsal until around three?" I asked, raising my eyebrow. He nodded. Did he think I was stupid? "Except I asked Liam about it twenty minutes ago, because I was worried, and it turns out there was no rehearsal today. So want to tell me where you really were?"

He looked down, frowning. "You checked up on me?" he asked softly. Oh no, he could not be upset with me for that.

"You were gone all day! I thought maybe you were hurt or dead or something! Of course I checked up on you!" I shouted, pushing my chair back and walking away from him.

"I was setting something up for us, for tomorrow. And when I came back, you really were sleeping! So I figured you just didn't feel good, and I went to the store to pick up some medicine," he started, pulling a bottle of cold pills out of his pocket and setting them on the table. "Then I ran into some friends and we talked. I lost track of time is all!"

"You were out until three setting something up for tomorrow. Then you wasted twenty minutes getting medicine and seven hours talking to friends? I don't buy that. Either tell the truth or get out," I told him.

"Fine, you want the truth? I really did set up until three. Then I came home and went out to get the medicine. And while I was out, Perrie texted me and asked if I could meet up to talk. So I met up with her and spent a long time arguing with her. Then she called up the girls in her band, and they all came out with us. Jade and I were actually pretty good friends before Perrie and I broke up, so she and I spent some time catching up too. They wanted to go out clubbing and asked me to be the designated driver, and Jade convinced me it would be fun. But Leigh Anne and Jesy got drunk, and Perrie left with some guy I don't know, and it ended up being me and Jade trying to get Leigh and Jesy home without passing out or making the tabloids. And now I'm home and exhausted, and getting interogated by you because you don't trust me!" he shouted, slamming his hands down on the table. I didn't turn to look at him.

"Sure. You didn't think it was at all weird to be hanging out with your cheating ex while your fiance sits at home and worries?" I asked quietly, twirling the ring around me finger before taking it back off and turning to put it on the table next to the medicine.
