Leaving Beth's house was impossibly hard, even knowing that I'd be going to see David Tennant live in his new show. When Zayn called to ask me what time I'd be home, I was shocked to see it was nearly five already.
"Hales, I'm glad you're having fun with your family, but what time did you want to leave to go to the show? I can get you from there if you want."
No, I didn't want! "It's fine, I'll leave in a few minutes. I'll be home soon to get ready, love," I replied, glancing at a clock. My eyes widened. "Shit, is that the time?"
"Yeah, it is. I wondered if that was your problem. Babies distract you."
I could hear the amusement in his voice, and I rolled my eyes. "Of course they do. And Anni hasn't cried for me once!" I told him proudly.
"You're going to be crying if you miss this show because you weren't ready on time. You know it's true. If you're not home in half an hour, I'm going to assume you've changed your mind."
"That's just cruel. I told you I'd be right home," I stated. I would have exploded on him if I didn't know he was joking.
"You know you love me. I'll see you soon." And with that, he hung up on me. Again, I would have been annoyed if that wasn't a normal thing. He'd think I was getting annoyed with him, so he'd hang up before I could yell at him. I had to force myself to not be annoyed.
Beth had been watching and listening to the whole ordeal (well, my end of it), and she took Annissa back when I put my phone back down.
"You better get going. I just about to ask you what time you wanted to go get ready. Do you know what you'll be wearing?" she asked me.
"I bought a dress for it last week, yes," I replied, grinning. "It's beautiful! Zayn hasn't seen it yet. I can't wait to see the look on his face."
"Well, go then!" she said, laughing. Matt walked me to the door, handing me my purse and an envelope.
"For you, for later. Don't open it until tomorrow, okay?" he told me as I walked out to my car. I nodded, forcing my curiosity back. I could wait a night to open it. That was something I was capable of doing. As long as I gave it to Zayn and made him hide it where I'd never think to look.
The drive home was more fun than usual, because I made sure to put on the radio. And just as I was parking, I got the surprise of a lifetime. My song, the one I'd recorded during my fight with Zayn, was on the radio!
To say I was surprised was an understatement. I hadn't let any of the boys hear it yet. Mica was mad at me (not really) because I hadn't let her listen either. But now, there it was, for anyone listening to the radio. And at nearly five thirty on a Friday night, everyone would be listening. Even a few of the boys.
I shut my phone off before going into the house, just to be safe. I didn't want them to call while I was getting ready, and I wasn't going to even look at my phone during or after the show. I'd deal with the fallout tomorrow, after I found out what was in that envelope.
Unfortunately, I hadn't thought of Zayn's phone. So when I walked into the house, I was met with Zayn staring down at his phone, listening to my song that had apparently also leaked to Youtube. Great. He heard the door close and looked up at me, tears in his eyes.
"Do you really feel this way?" he asked me, his voice wavering.
"I wrote that, along with one other, when I thought you were cheating on me with Perrie. I felt it at the time, but I don't anymore. Please, calm down. I don't think it anymore," I replied. He wiped the tears away with the back of his hand.
