We chatted back and forth for the week. Not constantly but at least once a day. I finally had a friend who could relate to all the youtube stuff that I do.
I had decided from the beginning that I was going to keep mine and joe’s collab a secret so it would surprise my fans, I hadn’t tweeted about it or mentioned it in my latest video or anything. BUT the excitement got the better of me. Soon I was going to blow so I needed to tell them somehow...anyway, I never would have had the chance to meet up with Joe if it wasn’t for my fans. They totally deserve to be kept up to date. That’s what I was telling myself anyway...i seriously couldn’t hold it in any longer. So I had decided to vlog the first time that we met, but keep the collab bit a secret still. They’d be excited enough that we’ve met!
I don’t do vlog’s each day because heck my life really wasn’t that interesting. I vlog the days that I thought are actually worthwhile, so maybe once a week. My life is that interesting.
When it was finally the day to meet Joe, I was waiting outside the tube nearest to the chosen cafe.
This would be the first time we actually saw each other that was not through a computer screen. And this would be the first time I met a popular youtuber. Saying I was nervous was an understatement.
I was leaning up against the wall outside, rocking from side to side, concentrating on my feet so I didn’t over think anything. I mean, when I see Joe for the first time how am I supposed to say Hi to him? Shake his hand like some sort of business associate or what? I’ll just stick to concentrating on my feet.
To pass the time, I turned on my vlogging camera
‘Welcome to another episode of Oli Sparks not so daily vlogs...and I am currently waiting for someone outside a tube station...who you might ask? Well you’re just going to have to wait and see...’
I turned it off and put it back in my bag. Well that distracted me for like 5 seconds...hm. He should be here soon anyway.
I was scrolling down my twitter when I felt a tap on my shoulder, I turned to the side to see Joe sugg stood there in all his glory. Wow his hair really was fluffy.
Without hesitation Joe went straight into a hug. ‘It’s so good to finally meet you!’
‘You’re telling me’ I said returning the hug and feeling the worries from earlier disappear.
I quickly asked him whether it was okay if I vlogged a bit of our day for my fans and he was totally accepting. He’s obviously used to it with all of his other youtuber friends.
I turned on the camera and made sure I was the only one in shot.
‘Soooo the special guest has arrived and it’s...’ I made a fake drum roll noise as I zoomed the camera round to Joe
He stretched his arms up in the air ‘Phil Lester!...wait? Damn I’m not amazingphil.’
He made a big pout as I laughed off screen. ‘Yeah I was disappointed too.’ I said as joe’s pout grew even bigger.
I then put the camera back on me. ‘Look guys, I actually have friends! Who are youtubers!’
I hadn’t realised but Joe had moved behind me and must have been making faces to the camera whilst I was speaking.
‘Well that’s what happens when you become internet famous’ He winked to the camera. My audience would love that.
‘Anywho, I am treating Joe to a hipster cafe today. Do you think you can handle it Thatcher?’
‘Oh god Sparks what have I got myself in for!? I should’ve brought my thick framed glasses.’
I laughed again and looked back at the camera ‘Sooo I’ll check in with you guys later.’
