I Got A Youtube Channel - A Joe Sugg Story

Chapter Four

As soon as i got home I sat down and managed to avoid the nonstop questions from my housemate Claire. I just really wanted to start editing, so I ran straight into my room. I knew that then I’d get to watch the footage and basically relive the day all over again.   

I was about half way through when I got to a part that I didn’t know would be there. I must have gone to the toilet because the camera got turned on and holding the camera was Joe with a mischievous grin.   

‘Hello Oli subscribers! Also hello Oli who is currently editing this. You can’t cut this out because I will know!’ He raises an eyebrow at the camera ‘You guys are definitely subscribed to a good one here. You have great taste’ He then winked to the camera. Even I melted a little bit...who am I kidding of course I was going to melt when he has a face like that. Joe then continued.

‘Also don’t tell her but I totally drunk a bit of her hot chocolate. Damn it’s good!’ That little shit drank my drink! He then quickly put the camera back on the table as I heard myself sit down again. Completely oblivious. Well that was sneaky of him.

I quickly got my phone out and texted him.

Joseph Sugg. You drank a bit of my hot chocolate. How very dare.

Oli

Wow you really are on top of your editing! I was expecting this text tomorrow. But honestly you were gloating about your hot chocolate enough, you were practically asking for it.

Joe

No I wasn’t! I just wanted you to know what you were missing out on...you definitely owe me replacement hot chocolate now.

Oli

That’s not fair I had one sip! Well I may have accidentally backwashed into it a bit too. Did you enjoy drinking my spit?

Joe

YOU BETTER BE JOKING RIGHT NOW. I am now expecting a new drink AND mouth wash.

Oli

Hahaha, oh god you’re easy to wind up. Good luck with the rest of the editing!

That boy was disgusting. But he did make me laugh

I’d just uploaded the video and tweeted it as Claire had finished making us some dinner. She is good to me. This meant that I wasn’t just sat in front of my computer screen refreshing the video over and over again to see how many people had watched it or what people think. This time I got the initial reactions after my dinner and all in one go.

Click the refresh button. Wow this has got a lot of views already. And the comments are so lovely!

I’ll check out what twitter thinks.  

I tried to read as many tweets that I was tagged in as I could but there were just so damn many. It’s not usually this hectic. However, the more I scrolled the more I saw a certain hashtag.

What the...!?

And then I stupidly decided to look through the #Joli tag...oh shit. What had I started.

Did you see the way Joe looked at Oli!?? #joli it’s definitely a thing!

So apparently Joli was mine and Joe’s couple name and jesus christ had it spread like wildfire!

Why hadn’t I seen this one coming??

I’d obviously seen this sort of thing before like with Zalfie, although that actually turned out to be a real thing. This was just me and Joe. We’d met once.

I really didn’t know how to react to this. You only ever see one side of this sort of thing. Never how people actually take it. How did tyler and troye react when they realised they were heavily shipped? Or Joey graceffa and shane dawson!? Unfortunately there aren’t books or youtube videos dedicated to reacting to this sort of thing. Just tons and tons of tumblr posts and tweets about what the fans think of them...oh god I hope it doesn’t escalate that quickly.

And at that moment I felt my phone vibrating. I was getting a phone call. From Joe! Shit.

I picked up the phone.

‘Hello?’

‘Hi! Just thought I’d ring to congratulate you on a successful vlog!’

Maybe he hadn’t heard about the Joli thing yet then...

‘Yeah, no thanks to you hijacking the camera!’

‘Oh come on that’s vlogging gold. The fans seemed to really love it!’

‘Yeah you can say that again...’ I said quieter than normal.

There was a distinct pause in the conversation.

‘You’ve seen the Joli thing haven’t you?’ He asked sounding a bit unsure...

Well I couldn’t really lie. It was everywhere.

There was another pause.

‘Yeah...I couldn’t really avoid it.’

But then Joe started to laugh and the tension dissappeared. ‘I couldn’t believe how quickly it happened! One video!’

‘Well, youtube audiences are very passionate.’ I said laughing. But it was true, I did love my audience.

‘Passionate indeed. And you’re okay with it? You aren’t freaking out or anything?’

‘...That’s actually why you rang wasn’t it?’ I said with a smirk.

‘Maybe...i know you overthink things I didn’t want you to panic or anything...and well..this is my first proper ship too so I wasn’t sure how to handle it...’

‘It is?’ When I thought about it, he’s actually right! ‘Wow I feel honoured...'

‘And so you should!’ He said laughing again.

‘Arrogant twat.’ I said laughing too. ‘Don’t worry though we can figure out how to handle it together.’

‘Glad to hear it. So we’re okay yeah?’

I started to nod then realised he couldn’t see me ‘Yeah we’re okay.’

‘Perfect. So I’ll see you at the youtube party next week?’

‘Yeah see you there, wait-‘

‘HA! You said it! You just said you were going! Now you have to go!’

‘No that was sneaky ...I....well...I am pretty tempted actually.’

‘Even more perfect! I will definitely see you there. BYE’

‘Don’t hang up just so I can’t argue back!’

But it was pointless because he’d hung up before i’d even finished my sentence. Idiot.

Well looks like I’m going to the youtube party then.

I really enjoyed writing this chpater so i hope you did too!
