"Let me Laugh Again" Book 2 V Fanfiction

3 - A Restless Evening...

      Min-ji glared harder at Hyejin to make her go away but if anything the blasted girl only sidled closer to annoy her. "Yah kids!! Gather here...Min-ji has gladly agreed to treat us all to barbecue-"

      "Alright!!" the whole team chorused loudly. Min-ji didn't even open her mouth in shock or protest but resigned herself to the trouble that Hyejin brought upon her. Min-ji couldn't do anything so she just shrugged and told them to meet downtown.

      "See you Min-ji, saranghae!!" "Min-ji jjang!!" the team sent her hearts. She stamped down the urge to shiver and cringe but just ignored them. Hyejin appointed herself as guardian/assistant when she slid into the passenger seat. Min-ji just raised her eyebrows and didn't comment anymore. It seemed that this day was full of surprises. This morning brought a whole universe of weird feelings and she found out that it wasn't so bad. 

      It almost felt like seeing V – bringing a fluttering to her heart – but not as intense. V though, was a whole other universe of promise.  Min-ji nodded at the maitre'd and said, "For 15 please..." The attendant smiled at her and replied, "Of course miss, right this way please..." She followed him but stopped when she noticed that Hyejin wasn't behind her. "Yah – what are you doing?" she asked. "Uh – I thought we're going to eat barbecue?!" Hyejin whispered, sounding choked. Min-ji frowned, "Uh – well I don't know any barbecue joints here yet so I chose this restaurant instead" she replied.

      'Well, well, well! Of course she's rich – if her ride is any indication!!!' Hyejin swallowed hard. "Uhm but still, are you really okay? I didn't mean to put you on the spot you know..." Hyejin tried to apologize. "Yah – let's just go already. I'm starving!" Min-ji just answered as she sat down. Hyejin tried not to gape at the opulence of the restaurant but it was hard. She snapped back into reality when her phone rang, "Oy, Hyejina! Where are you guys?!" asked Eunsung. So she typed a reply quickly, "We're at Yongsusan!!!" and a whole lot of emojis followed. She then settled back to sip from her wine glass and tried to relax.

      The rest of the team were boisterous when they arrived but when they realized the address of the restaurant they suddenly became rigid and formal. They elbowed each other and argued about who would enter first. Thankfully Min-ji came out and said impatiently, "Yah – are you coming or not? I'm starving here!!" She then turned and didn't look back. The team scrambled to get in after her because they might lose her. A waiter sat them down and gave them menus.

      Min-ji crossed her arms over her chest and closed her eyes. The team members were whispering and arguing about what to order when she finally snapped. She waved the waiter over and rapidly ordered for all of them. The team members were in shock again and finally stopped all whispering. "Yah – chaebol. Is this barbecue in Europe?" asked Minjun.

      "Shut up!" she said and ignored Minjun. Hyejin laughed and explained. "Ah – daebak!!! Min-ji jjang!!!" they said again. The food finally arrived and the team could only gape for a moment then Yoonsu surprised everyone by shouting, "Thanks for the food!" The whole team laughed and even Min-ji smiled. They ate a lot and had fun.

       When dinner was over, the whole team teased Min-ji. But mostly they were thankful. "Wow Min-ji-yah, that was one of the most expensive meals in my life!!!" exaggerated a team member whose name she didn't remember. They all laughed and Min-ji just nodded her acknowledgement. The team was still in high spirits when someone called, "Let's have a drink!!" "Alright! Let's go!!!" everyone agreed.

      Min-ji stopped, "Sorry guys. Maybe next time, okay? I've got to go home" she said. "Oh, okay! Be sure to come next time, okay? We're going to treat you next time!" she promised. "Yeah – we'll pay next time, just not in some fancy restaurant" piped Yoonsu.

      Min-ji laughed with them this time. "Yeah – sure. Bye!" she said as she walked to her car and felt her heart swell with joy. She drove home quickly, in truth she didn't have anything to do but she wanted to take some time alone to process her feelings. 

She got home in no time and felt restless so she texted V and said, "Let's go for a spin!"
