V arrived first and he was thankful that he dressed warmly.
He was relieved that Dal.Komm Coffee catered to a lot of people so he could hide somewhere in there. He took a taxi so as not to draw attention to himself and waited patiently for Min-ji. When 20 minutes passed and she had not arrived, he texted her and asked what she wanted to drink. She replied promptly although she didn't give any excuse as to why she was late.
V shrugged and kept his cool. 'I can wait...' he thought and watched anime on his phone."Hey Taehyung-ah!"
V smiled and thought, 'Finally-' as he stood to greet Min-ji only it wasn't her.
Soojin noticed how V's smile fell but she tried not to let it get to her. "Uh – were you waiting for someone?" she asked. "Ah yes, I am. What are you doing here?" V asked. "Oh – uh I'm here with my high school friends..." she pointed to a group of girls and boys by the corner. "Ah – okay. I see..." V replied.
"Uhm...so we're still on for tomorrow, right?" she asked uncertainly. "Yeah – sure. Of course-" V looked at his phone and noticed Min-ji calling. "I have to go. Nice seeing you here!" he said as he walked to the door. V pulled up his turtle necked sweater, put a cap on and rushed into Min-ji's car.
"Hey! Were you waiting long?" she asked him as he handed her the coffee. "No, just an hour – tops!" he deadpanned at her. Min-ji laughed, "Yah – I didn't take that long..." she replied. But V just shrugged and ignored her. "Alright! I'm sorry okay? Please forgive me?" she relented.
V turned and smiled cheekily at her. "What did you say?" he asked. Min-ji laughed again. "I'm not saying that again!!!" she said sternly but the effect wore off because she laughed in the end. "I waited and waited for you – you see..." he pouted and acted sad for her.
Min-ji snorted but said, "I'm sorry Taehyung-ah. I promise not to be late anymore..." she said seriously. V felt his heart pound when he looked into her serious eyes. Once again, V was pulled into her beautiful gaze and he was touched by her sincerity. He cleared his throat and looked away, "Alright! You're forgiven! Let's go!!" he said, finally. Min-ji smiled and revved the engine, "Yeah, let's go!!"V rolled down the windows to feel the wind on his face. Min-ji didn't open hers but she laughed along with him. They didn't talk but the silence was never uncomfortable. After about an hour of driving, Min-ji finally stopped and parked the car.
V got out and stood amazed at the view. They were in the middle of nowhere yet the view was to die for. He looked up and- "Whoa..." he stood speechless. They were on Mt. Jung-mi – quite far from the night life of the city and for a moment Min-ji thought Taehyung would hate the silence of the forest but she needn't have worried.
When she got out to point to the sky and impress him, V was already standing, open-mouthed in awe at the clear night sky. The sky was full of stars and occasional falling star passed them by."How did you find out about this place?" V asked as he sat beside Min-ji. She shrugged and answered, "I came upon it by chance. I was recovering from my accident when I drove aimlessly around and ended up here. I come here whenever I have time or when I want to think..." she replied. She explained about the observatory and told him they should come back and check it out.
They explored the area and had tons of fun. "Look, Min-ji!" V waved her over. Min-ji went on her knees to look at whatever V was pointing to when he suddenly threw a millipede at her."Eomma!!!" Min-ji screamed for her life.
