Lydia's POV
I stared at him, not believing my eyes.
His green eyes were bright and vibrant as ever. His brown hair was wispy and slightly curled the further you looked to the ends. A small smile was shown across his pink lips, the lips that spoke my name before.
I take in a deep breath, staring at him, "What are you doing here?"
He looks at me, a look of shock on his face. His dark eyebrows scrunch in confusion and his mouth is held a gap.
"Don't make me ask you again," I hiss, shivers rising on my skin even more.
He bites down on his bottom lip, "Can I come in?"
"I'm in the middle of teaching my class. What purpose do you have here?" I say, holding the door almost closed. It was just open enough to poke my head through.
"I came to see you." He tells me, rubbing his glove covered hands together.
I narrow my eyes, "The last time I saw you was in LA. You came all the way to Vermont, to see me?"
"Well, isn't that what I just said?" He shakes his head at me.
I blush, realizing that it was what he had just said. "You have no business here. Go back to where you came from."
To be honest, I have no real reason to be angry with him. I mean, he obviously had a reason to come all the way from LA and it's waters. I sigh, leaning my head against the large wooden lecture hall door. This was confusing beyond belief.
"David," I pause, remembering his name from months ago. "What are you doing on land?"
"I could ask you the same Lydia," he says, smirking at me.
I widen my eyes, looking passed him. It was beginning to snow once more here in Vermont. Soon, all of New England would be in a white winter wonderland.
"You can come in." I say opening the door wider for him to fit through. "But, you must stay in the back of the lecture hall."
"Can I sit down?" He asks as the door slams shut due to the harsh winds. I look around at all the desks leading down the the pit. Most of them were empty since the class size was very small and people dropped out because of my age.
"No, I don't want someone walking in and seeing a random guy taking up room in here." I answer him.
"I can just easily stand up." He tells me smugly.
"Yeah, tell me about that." I say, turning towards him as I cross my arms in front of me. "Because I'd love to know why you're here on land, David."
I was in shock. David, the father of Austin, was standing in front of me. This makes sense now. I can now understand why I had run into Austin in LA. He was half mermiad, and since David was here in person, then that must meant hat David is the one that made him half human.
Damn, the puzzle pieces begin to fall into place.
"I have a feeling that you already know how I'm here, with you." He plops down in the seat closest to us; in the last row, in the last last seat.
"You clearly-" I stop talking and look around. All of my students were situated in their seats down by the pit.
My stuff was still in the same spots I left them in and my pancakes were getting cold. My stomach growled from the sight and I bit my lip.
My life was a complicated mess.
When I turn back to him, I already find him starring at me. He had his head in the palm of his hand, just watching me.
