Lydia’s POV
What is this?
“Um, Lydia?” Niall waves his hand in my face as Louis sits me in a seat. “What’s wrong?”
“Uh…what?” I whisper, my eyes not breaking from the guy in front of me.
“Are you alright?” Niall continues.
“Yeah, I’m…fine.” His green eyes meet mine and I feel my heart jump uncomfortably. “Austin…”
Yes, Austin, the merman. He was here, on land. Now, call me insane, but was he like me?
“Hey.” He smiles at me cheerfully.
“What are you doing here?” I say, my voice cracking slightly. It was all too much seeing him out of the water, but being here, with the boys?
Something wasn’t right.
“I could ask the same to you.” He tilts his head a bit and gives me a knowing and secretive look. All the boys just looked between us skeptically.
“Um, how do you two know each other?” Zayn asks the two of us. All the boys sat around us, just watching. It was as if we were the second most interesting thing in the world; Niall kept picking at his nails, the reason for the second place in case you were wondering.
“School-” I spit out quickly.
“-Friends.” Austin says simultaneously. We look at each other, our eyes widened.
“Um…okay.” Liam gives us a strange look.
“But, didn’t you say that you went to school when you were like five, Lydia?” Louis rubs his stubbly chin as I groan eternally.
“Yeah, true Lou.” Niall points at him, Louis smiling triumphantly.
“Um, yeah!” I force a smile. “Austin as went to school with me in college since he’s way older than me!” I grin at my excellent lie.
“I’m only 18 though.” Austin tilts his head at me; a firm smirk on his face. I could easily see that he was trying to give me a hard time. “How would that be possible Lydia?”
“Yeah!” Louis joins in and I send a glare his way.
“The real question is, why are you here?” I hiss, getting a bit frustrated now.
“You never let me say good bye.” Austin pouts a bit.
“Are you serious?” I gasp. “You came all this way, for that?” I ask exasperated.
“Well…yeah.” Austin’s smirk disappears. “You’re just cool that’s all.”
“Oh my god,” I mumble. I stand up and grab at Austin’s elbow, tugging him up to follow me. He stands up and I’m instantly towered, he was tall like David, his father. “Come with me.”
“Sure thing.” He smiles at the other four guys and I bring him outside to the deck. I shut the door and stand in front of him, arms crossed firmly.
“How did you find me?”
“Well-” My phone rang from inside my pocket, cutting him off.
Harry.
I slip out the phone and I immediately turn it on hoping to have some luck. ‘Mother’ beeped on the screen and her face appeared. I clicked answer and put the phone to my ear, regretting it instantly.
“Hel-”
“Where are you?” her voice asked annoyingly.
“At the guys’ house, why?”
