"Blake, you need to sleep!" Weiss slightly yelled.
"If I do them we could miss something important!" Blake argued.
"If you don't, I'll be dragging your sleeping body off the battlefield because you'll be too tired to even fight!" Gracie shouted back.
"I'm not going to that stupid dance." Blake growled.
"If I have to wear a dress and put on make up, then so do you." Gracie growled back, her ears back in anger.
"If you need me I'll be in the library." Blake slipped out the door and disappeared through the corridors.
"I'm going to train." Gracie huffed and slammed the door closed after leaving.
"They're fighting like cats and dogs." Weiss smiled, trying to make small humor.
"Or should we say cats and wolves?" Yang snickered and sighed.
"Guys, we need to focus. Neither of them are sleeping or planning on it any time soon." Ruby looked at the others from her bed.
"They'll collapse from exhaustion soon. We need to focus on this dance." Yang pulled out the papers for it.
Meanwhile, Gracie walked out of the elevator, a frown etched into her face.
"Gracie, it's nearly eleven at night, what are you doing up so late?" Ozpin looked at her from his desk.
"Blake and I were fighting." she sat in her chair that was positioned in front of his desk.
"What about this time?" Ozpin sighed and flipped through paperwork.
"She won't stop doing research for a minute and she is suffering in every field possible for it." Gracie sighed and rest her head against his desk.
"Well, that's the pot calling the kettle black." Ozpin chuckled and looked over his glasses at his daughter.
Gracie flattened her ears a bit and huffed. "What do you mean?"
"I mean that you are in my office nearly every night demanding training. Even after I send you back to your dorm, you go outside and go to the woods to hunt Grimm. I'm not blind." he took a sip of his coffee.
"Well- you might've just been seeing things. I mean it's a long way from the top of this tower to the beginning of the woods. It's probably just a smudge on your glass." Gracie smiled innocently.
"Ah yes, a smudge with a long green cape, dagger-guns, and the ability to alter time. I should probably clean it." Ozpin set his papers down.
"You probably should." Gracie looked out the window.
"Gracie listen. I need you to rest. You are going to get yourself hurt if you keep this up-" He was cut off by Gracie shouting.
"Look a nevermore!" she yelled, pointing out the window.
Ozpin jumped up and looked, grabbing his cane. Gracie jumped out of her chair and ran towards the elevator, speeding herself up just enough to reach the door before being noticed.
"Gracie!" Ozpin was beside her before the doors to the elevator even opened.
"I love you, dad?" She smiled innocently before being picked up by the cape.
"Listen to me. Your training is not a joke. When I am gone, nobody else can help you. You need to take this seriously, but you also need to take a break." Ozpin set Gracie down before turning his back to her.
"But, dad-" Gracie looked at him sadly.
"No. Go sleep." he looked back at her.
"Fine." Gracie huffed and went into the elevator, slamming her fist on the button and glaring at him as the doors close.
The next day, preparations were going underway for the dance the next day. Few were pitching in and trying to get things set up so they would have less to do tomorrow.
The day of the dance finally arrived and Gracie was pacing her room.
"I forgot to get a dress!" Gracie panicked.
"Gracie, calm down. Just take a nap and I'll go ask Miss Goodwitch if you can take a trip to Vale in an hour or two." Ruby dashed off to stall herself from getting ready.
Gracie quickly fell asleep on her bed, and when she woke, she saw a box with her name on it and a note on top of it. She jumped down and grabbed the note, seeing no one else in the room and read it aloud.
"Dear Gracie,
I figured you would forget to buy yourself a dress for tonight along with shoes to match, so I sent Glynda to find you one that she liked. I approved of it before she bought it, and I believe you will like this dress too.
Sincerely, Ozpin."
The girl smiled and opened the box to see fabic of silver and green filling the box to the brim. She grabbed the first layer and pulled the dress out. It was a floor length gown that started out as a green at the top, then swirled into dark grey towards the bottom. It was a single long sleeve that went down her right arm and had a hole for her tumb to stick through.
"It'll work... But I need to make some adjustments. And I am not wearing those heels." Gracie grabbed her scissors and began cutting.
At the dance, everyone but a few had already arrived. Those few including Gracie. The doors opened and in came said girl. She had the dress on, only it was an inch shorter and had a slit on it up to her knee. She had also adopted her cape into the outfit, with a pair of black flats.
"Hey, Gracie! You look sexy!" Yang yelled over the music.
"Thanks, Yang." Gracie yelled as she walked past.
"Gracie, I don't believe that's the dress Glynda bought for you." Ozpin approached from upstairs.
"It is. I just altered it a bit." Gracie smiled innocently at him.
"You look beautiful tonight." Ozpin looked proudly at her before offering his hand. "Might I have this first dance?"
"Hmm... Fine." Gracie smiled and took his hand. "But I don't know how to dance."
"Just follow my steps. Two steps back, one step forward." he instructed before starting off slowly.
Gracie followed as carefully as she could, quickly catching on. A large grin adored her face as she looked up at him. "I'm getting it!"
"Yes just be careful not to run into anyone or step on my- ow!" he winced as Gracie accidentally stepped on his foot.
"Sorry..." she smiled sheepishly.
"It's alright. You go talk with your friends. I'm going to go sit down." Ozpin kissed her head before heading towards the nearest chair.
Gracie looked around, she managed to find everyone except Ruby. She shrugged before joining Blake, Sun, and Neptune for the remainder of the night.
