I stared in awe. The house was now a crumbling pile of cinders and ashes and now all that remained was the doormat. A mumbled voice could be heard in the nearby vicinity so I went to check it out. "Stay here Sanity. I don't think you want to see this." I blandly told her as I walked over to the source of the mumbled voice. It was her mother, burned and stuck under a large beam. By the time I got to where Sanity's mother laid she was gone. "I'm sorry Sanity... We were too late."

"It's ok Kade... They were happy" Sanity mumbled a response. I could see tears forming at the edges of her eyes. All too soon I saw her turn and gasp, she pointed to a rooftop of a nearby house.

"what the heck is that?" I followed Sanity's point to a large creature, about the size of a man. It had brown shriveled skin that looked as if the creature itself had been mummified. It's face, looked as wrinkled up as a raisin. The creature had no hair and by the looks of it's long claws coming from it's hands and the large knife-like fangs that this creature was no vegetarian.

Quickly, I pulled Sanity into a large bush and I immediately joined her. I wanted no chances or us getting hurt by this weird looking monstrosity. Until I knew that it was safe to exit I held onto Sanity's arm, preventing her from leaving. "What is that?"

Sanity's P.O.V

"I have no idea but it looks dangerous... let's wait until it leaves. I'm sure its capable of a lot more than just burning down a house." I could see the creature leaving the rooftop and leap into a tree. That's when I lost sight of it...

One one-thousand... two one-thousand...three one-thousand. I counted a whole sixty seconds before a dared  to even stand up to stretch my scrunched up back. Then, he tapped me. Just a quick tap, to tell me that it was alright to come out of the bush. That quick notification was all that I needed to motivate me to scramble out of the thorny bush.

I saw my charred house, everything was ruined, even the car was completely destroyed. The space where my room used to be was replaced with empty air, it had collapsed. I guess Zoe won't be seeing any more of my story anytime soon... I thought to myself in an attempt to relieve my obvious distress. Too late, the tears started to stream down my face and I broke down. Sobbing uncontrolably, I reached for Kade, even though I barely know him, he was my only comfort right now and that was what I needed. Comfort and to find out what did this to my family.
