Chapter 12

(Gwen's P.O.V)

Why, Why, Why?

Why just kept repeating in my head after the new girl I mean after Silver saved me from Hannah and her minions. At the corner of my eye I see her striding towards me.

Why you being a bitch to her Gwen? I think she needs a friend.

But nobody wants to be a friend with a nerd or the out cast in school.

She obviously doesn't care about social status.

But she could be thou-

A cough brings me out of my thoughts and I look up to see bright but dark light brown eyes. Her eyes are fascinating to look at and I couldn't seem to stop looking at them.

"Uh, what are we doing?"

It took me a few minutes to register what she was saying and I couldn't help but nervously laugh at my stupidity.

"We're doing track running. Coach is looking for six top runner's for long distance and short distances. You don't have to do it if you can't keep up".

My eyes went wide with what I just said. How stupid am I going to get. Did I just say she was slow and telling by the look Silver gave me I am pretty sure she is asking the same thing.

"Gather around yous peasants"

Mr Taser screams and I quickly scramble towards him avoiding Silver's eyes.

"Okay I am looking for my top six runner's for short and long distance. That top six will compete in the running competition next week against Grammar High school, Hollow Bay High School and also Scott's High School".

Ugh I hate Scott's High School. They are our rival school and they always beat us in track and other sports and they aren't afraid to show it when they win every game against us. Silver on the other hand looked bored and was ignoring Mr Taser. There was something about her which gave me chills and I don't want to know why.

"Okay Line up we are going to do the Beep test first"

Once we finished the Beep test we were running the track and most of the kids gave up so it was just Dan, Lenny, Lance, Hazel, Alex, Declan, Jordan, Cory, Haley, Silver and me. We were all running the track and everyone looked tired except Silver, she was running casually like she was running only for five minutes.

She was way in front of us and the boys tried to catch up to her but she was too fast for them. She looked so focused and calm while the rest of us were panting like dogs and sweating like pigs. Is she even human cause I only saw little beads of sweat slide down her head which she ignored and kept running. Dan, Hazel, Lenny, Lance, Haley and Cory finally gave up leaving Declan, Alex, Jordan, Silver and I. Coach told us two more laps and the final lap would be the sprinting lap. We ran around the track again and Silver slowed down to jogging which made all the boys and I overtake her. Once  it was the final lap the boys and I were sprinting around the track but Silver was still jogging until she got half way and sprinted straight past us. The speed she was going was mind blowing cause she sprinted pasted all the boys that were way in front and she was the first to get to the finish line and the boys were 20 metres away from her when she reached the finish line. 

Everybody stopped like literally stopped and looked at her. Alex, Jordan, Declan and I stopped too. We stood wide eyes and in shock with what we just saw and I didn't notice people sitting on the bleachers cause they were gaping at her too. Their mouths hung open in a 'o' shape. Mr Taser quickly snapped out of it and screamed for us to keep running and I took that as a opportunity to sprint past the boys and straight to the finish line where Silver was lying. The boys shook their heads and sprinted to the end making Alex come first then Declan and then Jordan. I was lying next to Silver trying to catch my breath while she was breathing normally.
