After spending as much time on the farm as they could it was time for everyone to head home. Cress and Thorne agreed to take Iko back to Luna and Kai had a ship coming for him and Cinder. Winter and Thorne were heading to their next diplomatic mission somewhere in the Commonwealth.
"Next time", Thorne joked, "Cinder will be talking our ears off about Royal Wedding plans".
"Carswell!", Cress scolded, "Play nice or I am taking your pilot's license again".
"Fine just leave my license alone. Leaving the autopilot on to long makes her annoyed, since she wasn't made to be a ship Cress".
After lots of hugs and goodbyes everyone went their separate ways.
Kai and Cinder boarded a ship that took them straight to the Commonwealth.
"I'm sorry Iko couldn't come back with us yet," Kai says once they're on their way, "I know she wanted to go back and pack for the to of you".
"Its fine. This means I have more time to spend with my fiance.
Cinder kisses him and giggles against his lips.
"What's so funny?", Kai asked confused.
"Nothing. It's just that I was thinking about the day you gave me those silk gloves after you asked me to the ball. Right after you left, Pearl took them and tossed them on the ground. She proceeded to throw my toolbox on them covering them in grease, as she said 'You didn't think he actually likes you did you' , then she told me to get her bags as she turned towards home and walked away. I cannot wait to rub it in her face that her little step-sister is marrying the bo- I mean man excuse me- she fawned over almost as much as Peony.
"Well that is something to think about," Kai chuckled, but Cinder could tell he was angry at Pearl.

Soon they arrived at the palace in New Beijing and Cinder had a moment in the car, remembering coming here as a child and seeing the beautiful palace. Now she was living here. And, oh stars. She was going to rule here.
Kai must've sensed something was wrong because he took her hand and pecked her cheek saying she'll be the best empress the Commonwealth had ever had. That made her feel a bit better.
Cinder smiled and kissed him. All I a sudden Kai's face went pale.
"Kai?", Cinder asked worried," Is something wrong?"
"Well I kinda forgot to tell everyone at the palace that I was proposing... so no one else knows your coming."
"Kai the staff are going to kill you. They always prepare the entire castle when I come over. They treat me like I'm already Empress."
"I know. I have to comm Torin."
Cinder chuckled. She was expecting Kai to forget something but not something this big a deal. Forgetting to tell anyone your proposing and to expect his future wife at the castle soon would not be getting him on great terms with the housekeepers.
