A little girl ran about, her small body easily dodging the large amount of people's legs as she weaved through them. However, a pair of horns that rested atop her head kept catching on people's clothes, drawing unwanted attention to her. Many of them cursed, spit at her, glared, and even shoved her away. One cruel woman grabbed her, trying to drag her to a pet shop, saying "Mutts like you belong in a cage."
The girl thrashed, her claws slashing at the woman's arm enough to draw blood, causing her to cry out in pain and release her hold on the girl. She dashed away as fast as her little legs could carry her. Her tired and dull mismatched eyes spotted a dark alley way, a place to hide and for her to rest, possibly even find a few scraps of food, if she's lucky.
Taking a deep breath, she dropped to all fours and sprinted across the street. A loud screeching sound made her lowered ears ring, and a sudden stab of pain ran up her right leg, but she ignored the feeling and kept running. Loud curses sounded, but quickly faded as did any other sound as she reached the alley. Pausing only long enough to make sure she'd be alone, the small creature dashed in and practically dove behind a large dumpster.
Curling up slightly, her long, once fluffy now matted tail, being the same length as her body, lied limply, a few cuts bleeding a (b/c) shade of blood, the black fur barely hinting at the dark (b/c) shade it used to be.
Her gray skin was paler than it once was and skinnier due to her malnourishment and fear of the sun, even if it wasn't as dangerous compared to the one from her home planet. Her ribs and spine poked out, almost painfully, showing she'd gone a long while without a proper meal. The last bit of food she ate was a half eaten can of wet dog food, which had been rained on and picked at by stray animals she somehow managed to ward off, and that was at least a week or so ago. Many scars and cuts littered her body, bleeding weakly the (b/c) blood that ran through her veins.
Her skin was also covered in a tiger striped pattern, the color matching that of her blood, unlike and troll anyone has ever seen, unless they were also a feral. Her stripes were also unlike that of what anyone has seen. The stripes were bioluminescent, though she personally never understood why, even if her owners tried explaining it once.
Her short hair, black and matted, stuck on her face and ears due to the dirt and grime that clung to her skin. A few leaves and pieces of trash stuck out from her mane, which curled down to cover her chest. A similar tuft of fur covered her lower regions, but was equally as dirty.
Her eyes were tired, lacking the life a child her age should hold. Instead, they held hate, fear, and pain; things a child should never feel. Her right eye was a milky white, not a sign of a pupil existing, nor an ounce of sight. Yes, she was completely blind within her right eye. Her left eye was a dull (e/c), her pupil a black slit that was now widened in fear. Her sclera was a yellow/orangish color, but bloodshot from her lack of sleep.
The horns that stuck out from her head were colored like candy corn, four in total. The larger set pointed upwards and pointed inwards slightly, while the other set were ram-like in style, curving under her lowered fox-like ears. Her horns were a bit damaged, having scrapes from being tossed about and attacked, but remained fairly untouched.
Her fingers sported yellow claws, though they were filed down from her previous owner, but were still slightly sharp. Her legs were double jointed, much like that of an animal, but her right leg was made of metal, along with her left arm. She'd broken the bones from her knee down, and one of her previous owners gave her this metal one, the same with her arm. It was also double jointed, much like her normal leg, but due to the car previously hitting her, she noticed her foot was twisted in an almost 180, while the knee was locked, disabling her from bending it. Normally, she'd be able to fix it, since the man who gave it to her taught her how in case he wasn't around, but she didn't have the tools to do so.
The girl was much different than anyone she's seen since she ran away from her owner. She has only seen two beings that shared the gray skin and sported horns, one was kind while the other reacted the same as the humans did. Her eyes lowered to the ground as she thought about what made everyone hate her.
First off, she belonged to a species called Feralines, or just known as Ferals. Her planet, once a peaceful and forested place, was now forcefully inhabited by trolls and humans alike. Her species was nearly wiped out upon the invaders arrival. There were few of her species in existence, them now being treated as a pet, forced to do tricks for the humans and trolls entertainment. If any of them disobeyed, they were beaten, starved, or worse, tortured. The small girl learned to follow orders, but after meeting a troll one day who spoke of equality between all beings, she knew she deserved better. She may be young, but she was smart, much different than others her age, her age close to that of the human age of five years old.
One night she waited for her owner to go to bed after a day of performing flips, rolling around, and fighting with large dogs for more meaner humans entertainment. Once her owner locked her cage and went to bed, she used her sharp teeth to gnaw through the lock and was free in a matter of minutes. She easily snuck to the back door, having mapped the house she was often forced to clean, then fled into the streets of the city.
She'd been running for a month, nearly being captured several times, but her fighting spirit always managed to give her the strength to escape. But now, as she sat in the dark and dirty alley way, several wounds bleeding and her metal leg damaged to the point she knew it'd hinder her since she doesn't have the tools to fix it, her hope for a better life was dwindling like the light in her eyes.
The girl sighed, pulling her knees to her chest, too tired to search for food. The pain of being clipped by that car finally caught up to her, making her body ache and stripped all of her energy to move. Her chest clenched painfully as she struggled to breathe, her eyes only now noticing the amount of blood she was losing from her wounds. She knew that she'd live if she were to get the proper care, but there was very little chance of that happening to her.
She leaned back against the dumpster, welcoming the coldness it brought to her skin. Sure, it hurt, but it was also relaxing to her aching muscles and weak body. Closing her eyes, she slowly slipped to and fro with unconsciousness, but was startled awake at the sound of a voice from the mouth of the alley way. She froze, hoping whoever was there saw something else, but she noticed that her tail and metal leg were in perfect viewing sight. She curled them to her body, hissing quietly in pain, suddenly hoping her hiss would cause them to leave, but she heard the person step closer.
A quiet whimper escaped her as she saw the figure come closer, her nails digging into her legs in fear, her head buried in her knees, praying this person would just leave her alone. She didn't want to go back to a pet store and be sold to another mean owner, or worse, put down due to her injuries. She didn't want to hurt anymore.
The voice called out once more, but her fear blocked the words out. She knew she'd be hurt again. She feared it, and took to curling in on herself more, cowering in fear as footsteps neared her body. Another set of words sounded out once more, but this time, the small feral heard the words. The person was calling out to her, asking if she was alright. She risked a glance upwards, a squeak of fear escaping her at how close they were. She cowered back more, but her eyes remained locked on the person. Their body language showed they meant no harm, but she was still cautious.
She watched the figure crouch, their face showing worry. The small feral gasped, noticing the being before her was…
