"Ughhh..." Aria moaned. She banged her head on her desk over and over again.
"Calm down," Wynter said, giving her a sweet little smile. "At least-"
"At least what?" Aria snapped. "At least I get to die? Be utterly humiliated?" She breathed heavily, then cast her eyes downward. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have yelled at you."
Wynter was silent for a moment, before replying. "No, I should be sorry. I know this must be hard for you."
Aria sighed then, put her head back down on the desk.
"Aria! Why would you do that?" Ember shrieked.
"I don't know!" Aria shouted back at her. "So I accepted a duel! So what? Why are you so fed up? It's not like you have to fight her!"
The surrounding people in the cafeteria watched this with interested eyes. People whispered, and pointed.
Ember looked back at them. "You got a problem, bitches?" She hissed at them. They ran off. Then, she looked back at Aria. "You're gonna regret this, Aria. Trust me, you will." She stood up, pushed the table back, and stormed off.
Aria watched her leave, hurt. "What did I do?" she murmured.
Wynter looked at her with sympathetic eyes. "I think you don't understand, darling." she said.
"How would I not understand?" Aria muttered. "I don't get it. Why is she so mad?"
"It's because she cares for you, darling." Wynter said. "She doesn't want you to get humiliated, and hurt. Like she did before."
Aria furrowed her eyebrows. "What do you mean?"
"Aria, darling, Ember fought against the Princess before. And lost."
Aria moaned. "Great, now I feel like a jerk. I have to apologize to her later."
Wynter shook her head. "What is there to apologize about?"
"True," Aria muttered.
"Good morning, Professor Fiore," someone in the classroom said. Aria snapped her head back to the front of the desk, where a teacher had magically appeared.
"Good morning, children!" Professor Fiore chirped. She clapped her hands in excitement. "Oohhh, we have a new student, children!" She pointed at Aria, and she instantly felt like hiding underneath the desk.
Heads turned to her direction, and the whispering began. "Hey, isn't that the person who got challenged by the Princess?" "Look at her eye patch. It's creepy." "Look at her! She's a chaos dragon!" The chatter continued, and the volume started rising, before Professor Fiore rapped on the table for attention.
"Children!" she cried. "Let's begin the class. As a warm-up, I want you to pair up with someone and practice what we learned last class!" Immediately, students jumped out of their seats and chose partners.
"Hey, do you wanna be partners?" Aria asked Wynter. The Ice-Dragon didn't reply, just slowly nodded her head.
Aria looked around the room, and saw that everybody was putting their hand in front of them, palm up, and forming small balls of what seemed like their element. Aria watched as balls of lightning, water, earth, fire, air, ice, and even a black hole appear over their hands. Some plant-wielders even started growing a small sapling from their palms.
"So....I guess that's the warm up..." Aria muttered. "Do you wanna start?"
Wynter nodded again, then opened her palm. A beautiful, perfectly rounded ball of ice formed in her hand.
