Personal training with Andres was a mess. Andres had tried to help her with combat magic, and weapons training, to prepare her for her fight against Vera. His chosen weapon, or weapons were knives, one in each hand, with curved ends.
After surrendering for about the hundredth time, Andres sighed and pulled Aria to her feet. "You'll never win if you keep slacking off like this." he snapped. "Why won't you fight for real?" He slashed forward with both of his knives and Aria was forced to parry with the rapier she was trying out.
It seemed like she never got a time to rest.
"I'm trying!" she huffed.
"Well, try harder!" he snapped. This guy literally had two personalities. He could be sweet and shy, or commanding and serious. He switched between them so much Aria could never tell how many times he had switched.
While Aria was day dreaming, she didn't notice Andres crouch down for an attack and slam into her so hard she almost lost grip of her rapier. Instead, she fell on her butt, and he crossed his knives in front of her throat.
Andres sighed and released her. "You'll never beat the Princess if you keep fighting like this!"
"You don't have to keep telling me that!" Aria growled and pushed herself to her feet, throwing her weapon down in frustration. "I can't seem to find the "right" weapon of choice. You found yours already, why is it taking me so long?"
Her duel with Vera was tomorrow afternoon, and Aria was so stressed she could have sworn that she was getting thinner, her eyes had bags, and her hair was losing its pristine shine. Ember and Wynter drilled her through Combat Magic, constantly doing "mini" duels in the field, only using magic. While she was getting better control over her chaos magic, it always threatened to lose control and consume everything around her.
"Calm down, Aria," Andres soothed. "How about we focus on your magic more?" He handed her a black staff with a glowing purple orb on the top and a black "wing" extending outward.
Aria sighed and gently pushed it away. "First of all, I can't use those. There has never been a Magic Staff infused with chaos magic. Second of all, its not my thing. Also, isn't that a Space Magic Staff?"
Andres looked confused, before realizing his mistakes. "Whoops," he muttered. Fumbling with the handle, he returned to the wall covered with a variety of weapons and searched around for a new one.
Magic Staffs were long staffs equipped with a magic stone on the top infused with that kind of elemental magic. Say, someone with powerful ice magic could take hold of a gem, and infuse their magic within it. Then, someone with the same elemental magic could purchase the staff with the gem and the magic within the stone would help the person perform their own magic. It was considered a weapon, used for more long range attacks, and almost as common as a bow or a sword.
Normal weapons operated similarly. If wanted, one could take his weapon to a blacksmith and have magic infused into his weapon and have it's elemental ability strengthened.
The stronger the person who put their magic into the stone, the more expensive it would probably be to purchase an upgrade or the staff.
However, Aria could probably never get her weapon upgraded or get a magic staff, as she was the only known Chaos Dragon in existence for now.
"Hey, let's wrap this up, okay, Andres?" she called to him. "I'm gonna go back to my room now."
Without waiting for his reply, she walked away back to the Academy,

Aria trudged through the halls, scowling. She had spent the rest of the day studying in the library, desperately trying to think of a strategy and the right weapon choice to defeat Vera. She didn't even know what weapon Vera used, which made it even worse.
