Sorry I haven't posted in what feels like forever. I honestly don't know if I want to continue this story, please tell me in the comments if you want to see more of this story. Thanks!

Aria squinted as light flooded her eye, making it unbearable to see. As her eye adjusted, she saw a figure walking towards her. It was Vera, no doubt.

The roar of the crowd seemed miles away. Right now, right here, Aria was trained on the person standing in front of her. Last nights training was fresh in her mind, and she was excited to see the results.

Vera had nothing with her. She was wearing simple blue and sliver armor, but carried no weapon of some sort. If she was surprised at the appearance of the scythe Aria was carrying, she did a good job of hiding it.

They stopped a few yards away from each other, inclining their heads down a little as a show of respect before the battle. Vera probably wasn't going to be looking down at Aria anytime soon unless she was wiping her sorry butt across of the arena.

Aria shook her head, trying to clear her head of all the ridiculous thoughts popping into her head. Right now, she only had one job, and that was to beat Vera.

The host of the battle came before them, leaning sideways to avoid the huge scythe. "Ahem, dragons, ready positions."

Aria held her weapon, balancing it on the palms of her hands, crouching low. Vera stood still, never taking her green and blue eyes off of Aria.

Aria swallowed, and a bead of sweat trickled down her forehead. She barely heard the shout of the host that signaled the start of the duel.

She surged forward. Strike first, regrets later, she decided.

Vera watched calmly as the storm of fury descended upon her. Aria raised her arms above her and swung down with all her might. She saw the side of Vera's mouth twitch up.

A huge gust of wind flung her back. Aria skidded back with surprise, her feet pushing against the floor, her scythe held in front of her.

Vera flipped her hair back, her green eye glowing. She was unscathed. A ball of wind surrounded her, buffeting the entire arena with a powerful wind.

Aria blinked with shock, and Vera didn't waste any time. She flew forward in her ball of wind and formed a sword of water in her hands. She swung the water blade from the side with the flat side of her blade, aiming for Aria's rib cage. Another memory flashed in her eyes, causing her to raise her scythe and parry the blade.

The hit never came.

She saw it all in slow motion. As soon as the two blades made contact, the water blade was cut in two, but reformed immediately, causing the sword to whack Aria's side. A burst of pain exploded in her rib cage. She doubled over, wheezing. Black spots danced in her eyes.

The crowd cheered, favoring Vera. Aria squinted, and looked up. The Princess stood above her, a mocking grin on her face.

Well, Vera was definitely looking down on her now.

"Come on," she chided. "Don't tell me this is all you have. I thought you would be different from all the weaklings I fought before."

A fiery hot rage coursed through Aria. Vera clearly sensed this, because she continued. "Though the weakest of the bunch was...what was her name again? Ahh, yes, I remember now..." she grinned coldly. "Ember. What a weakling she was! You two suit each other."

Aria swiped her scythe low, bringing it around Vera's ankles. Vera nimbly backflipped over the cut, calmly looking as Aria slowly stood up.

"Don't you EVER disrespect Ember again," she growled.

Vera studied her nails. "Or you'll what?" she mocked. "Defeat me?"

Another scene flashed in front of Aria's eyes. She brought her scythe up and slashed twice quickly, in the shape of an X, channeling her chaos magic through the magic stone and into the blade.

Two arcs of pure darkness erupted from her blade, flying through the air at Vera. She quickly brought up her sphere of air just as the chaos magic hit.

Immediately, there was a huge explosion. The chaos magic exploded, dispelling and merging with the air magic of Vera's sphere. The combination magic of chaos and air caused a black dense cloud to erupt, filling the arena and making it impossible to see.

Vera turned in a circle, searching for her opponent. "You can't hide forever," she said, then formed another sphere of wind around her and pushed it out, dispelling the black cloud. She turned in a circle quickly, searching for Aria. Suddenly, a shadow passed over her, and she whipped her head up, just in time to see Aria descend upon her with her scythe over her head, ready to strike. She brought down her weapon with all her might.

Vera formed a water shield at the last second, but Aria channeled her chaos magic through her blade, slicing straight through the water. The scythe brushed Vera's cheek, leaving a cut.

The crowd was quiet at first, shocked into silence. Suddenly, shouts started growing, chanting her name. "Aria! Aria! Aria!"

The Princess looked stunned for a brief second, before her face morphed into a smirk. She wiped her cheek, blood smeared on the back of her hand. "Better," she decided. "Much better."

Aria became more confident. She had landed a blow on the Princess! She had a chance.

With this thought still in her mind, she attacked.

The fury of her blows seemed to overwhelm Vera. The Princess could do nothing but deflect her blows with her magic, slowly being forced back. She was on the defensive.

Aria saw an opening in Vera's defenses. She raised her blade above her head and slashed down. This was it!

Vera smiled.

Something silver flashed in the corner of her eye. Suddenly, something was blocking her scythe from hitting Vera. Her eye widened in shock.

Vera was blocking her attack with two delicate fans.
