{7~Liberum Volatum}
Severus found the incident with Felix Haar quite smart of Hermione. Plus, it was entertaining to know she had gotten him to look flustered and confused. The boy needed a good scare, and nothing else ever worked, so there had been no harm done to the wizard. Hermione was overly glad to hear that Severus found her teaching skills quite alright, and she was proud that her punishment had been minimal yet affective. This job was turning more in her favor than she ever imagined.
Late one evening, the teachers were gathered in the room behind the Great Hall all murmuring to one-another as to why they were there. They'd been called by Severus for some unknown reason, and curiosity was an understatement as Draco was there as well, forced to stay past dinner. Luckily enough, their curiosity was sated when Snape came furling into the space with his cloak billowing behind.
"I am sure you are all wondering as to what has brought you here today?" He spoke loudly, hushing everyone.
Their eyes widened, though, when they suddenly watched him slip his wand from his sleeve and hold it nearly ready to attack, though his position was relaxed.
"Severus?" Carthenius asked him worriedly, and of course the Defense Against Dark Arts teacher would say something.
The man nearly growled at Conared until he placed his wand on the middle of the table.
"I invite you all to do the same."
Hermione looked at everyone who hesitantly began to remove their wands from their sleeves and pockets. Neville, however, was the first to place his on the table with a large grin.
"Thank you, Longbottom."
The boy nodded and looked at the others.
"Come on then."
With this, Hermione was able to set hers alongside his as everyone else copied. Now their attention was utterly captured, but what the bloody hell was Severus trying to do with their wands?
"What's with this, Severus?" It was Gilda this time as she watched him pick back up his wand and pull his sleeves back.
"I'm doing you all a favor."
Hermione felt anxious, there was no reason that maliciousness was involved as he began a vivid enchantment that forced the wands to levitate above the table, soon revolving in a circle. She felt rather clichéd sitting their watching this vivid play of magic.
"Liberum Volatum... Liberum Volatum... Liberum Volatum."
With the final saying of the charm, Hermione watched eagerly for something grand to happen, but their wands fell back to the surface they had been resting on previously with a soft click of wood.
"Apparition is no longer against your travels."
"Brilliant!" Draco exclaimed first and ran to get his wand, immediately popping out of the room with a cocky grin.
The Headmaster simply rolled his eyes with a look of utter discontempt for his god-son who popped back into the room moments later.
"Luna, of all people, thinks I am crazy."
The surrounding group chuckled at their colleague as they all collected their wands.
"It had always been a secuirty factor since the school was enacted, but peace is at large right now... so I leave this very sacred honor in your hands. I do not plan to share in the future occupants of these positions, but for now... I trust you all."
Hermione grinned as she pocketed her wand and felt the cool wood put back in its place. Her wand had always been a like a safety net. For most wizards and witches it was that way. Their wands provided a comfort and reassurance that they were not only safe, but that they were normal. What wizard or witch didn't carry their wand?
