Chapter 18: the encounter

It's been two weeks since I found out who he was, during this time I've been spending a lot more time with Slater. We've been searching up everything we need to know about Steven Black, the thing is there's nothing much on him besides what we already know. I even tried asking grandma and mom what they know and they totally avoid the question. I also get this really bad feeling about him that kinda makes my stomach feel like it's knotted and makes my heart hurt. Marcus has told me everything he knows and more, basically this guy is really scary and could slice you up with one glance. The good news is that Ethan and Nate have been getting along well with the girls , I also think they both are doing well with there new adjustments. Thanksgiving is in another week and I kind of want to ask mom if I could invite the guys over since I don't think there families are coming back down until Christmas . Also mainly cause I want Slater there, my crush on him may have magically gotten a lot bigger.

Steven Black's POV

"These children have been trying so hard to find out everything about me , why is that ? Do you think I interest them." I chuckled 
"Or perhaps I should just speak with the girl myself and tell her what I did to her beloved family . I'm sure she'd love to here the story of her fathers death from the person who did it himself. I think I know what I'm going to do with her now . Since she is the eldest and strongest with the most power I will have to capture her and drain her soul so I can take her powers. The only thing that is standing in my way is the queen herself and those boys she is always around , specifically that Slater Wild .Hmmmmm...maybe this is going to be a task for you Joseph. "
I turn around and walk toward my grandson .
"You are a year or two older then her and quite handsome may I add."

"Oh grandfather getting the girl will be easy , let's see how thankful she really is for her friends and family " joesph said with a mischievous grin

Slaters POV
"Hey guys I'll see you later " I yelled out to everyone as I opened the door

"And let me guess your going to go hang out with Scarlett?" Nick says behind me

"Uh yeah we were going to go for a walk and talk and hang out you know " I say

"Wow your so hung up on her bro, let me guess she's the girl of your dreams and your going to ask her out pretty soon because you can't contain your feelings for her much longer or they will eat you up." He said with a cocky grin as I just shoved him and closed the door to be greeted by Scarlett hugging my side. I gave her a big hug back as I looked in the window and see Nick blowing kisses at me. God he's so annoying sometimes .

"Hey Scar " I said smiling down at her

"Hey Slater , lets go " she said as she dragged me off into the woods with her . She brought me to this huge tree and before I could ask why , her ass was starting to climb up.

"Uh Scar? " I said a bit uneasy as she was sitting down on one of the branches as she looked down at me .

"Common Slater come up here unless your a scaredy cat" she said giggling

"I am not scared of trees ... just a little scared of hights." I said the end being more of a whisper, then she jumped Down and held my hand .

"Don't worry I won't let anything happen to you " she said smiling and started dragging me up the tree to the top . Man was this high up . You could see everything from up here. I took a deep breath and continued following her to the very top. She was laughing at me for being such a chicken. Like listen I can handle being flung , jumping , etc. I just can't willingly climb a 200ft tree on my own .

"The things I do for you" I said as she stopped mid way on the tree.

"Where here" she said crawling over a branch and sat down on a strong branch of the tree. I crawled over to her and sat beside her.

" I can't believe you're scared of heights Slater" she giggled pushing my shoulder

"At least I'm not scared of the sun" I said laughing

"Was that an insult toward vampires?" She raised a brow

"Maybe , maybe not ... just don't tell Erik and Marcus " I said looking at her. " so question why are we in this tree again ?" I asked wrapping my arm around her shoulders. She looked up at me and had this sad face and then she looked down at her hands.

" I feel like something bad is going to happen soon." She said looking up at me chewing on her bottom lip looking as if she was about to cry. " and I keep thinking about my dad too, I wasn't as young as my sisters where he passed away you know, I was five . I remember him. I remember when we were little we use to play tag and this would alway be the base. Charlotte would always just sit on the ground by the tree so no one would catch her. While I would run away from my dad." She smiled and then frowned "So now whenever I need to think or anything I come here..... I just really want to know why the wolves came after my dad, what do he ever do to make them want to kill him." She asked and tears started to drop down her cheeks. I wiped them away and hugged her tightly .

"Hey don't cry , I don't know why wolves would come after your dad, he was one of the strongest vampires known, at least that's what  my parents said. I also feel like something bad is going to happen , but that's why we all have to stick together. I'll protect you and your family. I promise I won't let anything happen to you ." I said hugging and kissing here forehead. She had  stopped crying and was hugging my side

"You know this is where I saw you for the first time in your wolf form " she smiled up at me

"No I didn't know that cause I don't look up to the trees " I laughed raising my eyebrow

"Well now you do and you should , you ever know who's watching or might pop out."

"Well now I'm going to have to or you will probably get me ." I said to her and looked down at her and smiled. "So is this where we're going to have deep conversations?" I asked as I held her hand

"Yeah, this is where we will have deep conversations Slater." She smiled

I wanted to just stay here with her forever, it's like when we're together it's peaceful. Until I heard this noise and got this horrible feeling in my gut. I held Scarlett close and listened closely, then his scent hit me. It was Steven Black .

"Oh do please come out princess and her little wolf " he said

I looked at Scarlett and her eyes were a bright red. If I wasn't holding her she'd jump and take him down. She let go of my hand and crawl up the branch and jumped into another tree, before I knew it she was standing in front of him. I had to get my ass down there before something happened. I jumped out of the tree and rushed to her side.

"Ah princess and her little wolf. How lovely to see both of you again." He said with a sneer

I held onto Scarlett and put her behind me . " What do you want ?" I shouted at him.

"Oh little wolf do not shout at me, unless you don't want anything happen to you and your little pack ." He stepped closer to us. Scarlett stepped out from behind me and her eyes were now glowing and she looked and sounded scary.

" So what exactly do you want Steven ?" She asked stepping closer to him

He stepped back from her and had chuckled and cleared his throats looking at her and said this. " tell your grandmother and the queen this, once hidden should stay hidden, now out watch your count, one less will start a mess." And then there was this big black smoke cloud and he was gone.
