Zane lead me to a small dining area.

This treehouse is fricken amazing

"Okay so I have two-minute noodles, chicken or beef your decision, there's also canned tuna and chicken." Zane looked back.

"Beef noodles, please and thank you."

He put the water and noodles in a pot.

"And how are you supposed to cook-"

He rested the pot on his hand, and with his other he held the handle, the water started boiling, and in around twenty seconds the noodles were done.

He grabbed two bowls and filled them with the noodles. He sat and began eating. I slowly begun to eat.

He had finished his and I was only half way through mine. He sighed.

"What's wrong?" I questioned.

"First of all you are only half way through eating and secondly you haven't stopped staring at me the entire time eating, do you know how disturbing it is to have someone stare at you and eat in pure silence?"

I rolled my eyes and devoured the last of my noodles.

"How did you boil the water?"I asked

"You should get some sleep it's been a long day."

He's trying to dodge the question.

"If you expect me to sleep tonight then you are sorely mistaken, I was okay without having to know about the eye thing but you cannot boil water with your hand and not tell me how you did it, these were two minute noodles you cooked in twenty seconds that is one minute and forty seconds that you had to spare."

I hate waiting for things to cook and this guy found a way where one minute and forty seconds of my life could be used for something useful instead of waiting for noodles, also the fact that he can boil water with his hand! That is not normal! Far from it!

"I will tell you later just...you need to go get some sleep." He pressed on. He relaxed a bit and tried to be comforting.

"I cannot sleep after I just ate I need to get rid of my energy, lets go for a walk."
I pointed outside and he glanced down to the entrance of the treehouse. He stiffened and clicked his tongue. Contemplating.

"Fine. We will go for a quick walk. But then you have to sleep."

I carefully climbed down from the tree, gripping onto the branches for dear life until I reached solid ground. Zane and I walked deeper into the forest far away from the treehouse, climbing over boulders and hills.

I face planted countless times, If I wasn't well coordinated during the day I was far worse at night.

The trees rustled with the cold night's breeze, sending chills running through my body. We found a clearing and sat in the center. Looking at the black abyss, riddled with stars and fire flies dancing in the air around us. It was peaceful. I closed my eyes and listened to the forest. We lied there our arms just a millimetre apart, gazing at the sky.
Why are you so comfortable around the stranger?

I heard a snap, and simultaneously Zane and I looked in the direction of the sound. Zane was already on his feet in a fighting stance in front of me. My eyes scanned the darkness until they rested on something that made my blood turn cold.

It was the owl. It stared at us, unmoving, for a few moments everyone was frozen until the owl lunged, revealing enormous talons that would rip me to pieces, its screeches were deafening.

Zane bolted towards it and grabbed its feet. The owl struggled in his grasp, wings flailing, its body jerking but it failed to escape. He took hold of the owls wings and snapped them clean off, the owl screeched in pain, a flame formed in Zane's palm, the vibrant orange lighting the darkness as it flickered in his palm. He raised the flame up to the the owl, its body twisting more violently now. I couldn't look away, I watched as the owl burned, the screeching echoing in my ears. Zane walked back to where I was sitting.

"Flunkeys are so damn stupid." Zane muttered. I snapped out of my daze.

"How did you do that, w-with your hand and the flame...?"I got up and stood next to him.

"Tell me." I stared at him, I studied his face, I could see it clearly in the bright moonlight, his tan skin looked paler in the dull light and his brown hair reflected the rays of the moon, the lights making harsh shadows on his chiseled jaw and his eyes. HIS EYES! They were no longer auburn and gold, instead they had changed to an emerald green, he looked normal.

"How did-"

"I will explain everything in time, at the moment the Flunkeys have targeted you so-"

"Flame. Flunkeys? Eyes! What the flip are Flunkeys?!"

Zane groaned and rubbed his temples.
