Jakes pov: 5 years ago.
"Jake, Samuel, Callum...I- I have something to tell you." Mum called from downstairs. We all rushed down pushing each other trying to get through one another. We all collapsed in a dog pile. We laughed as we got up. We looked at mum her face bright full of joy, trying to hide it behind an accusing stare.
"Ridiculous every time." She relaxed her hands and face, smiling. Humour glinting in her eyes. Mum was 20 when she had me and Samuel, 25 when she had Callum. Callum was our half- brother. "Okay now that you're all here, I have something to tell you." She fiddled with her fingers and looked at her feet.
"Is this about Clyde?" I gave her a weird look. Clyde was her boyfriend and being a single mother with three kids, it's hard for her to find a guy like him.
"Yeah it is." Samuel confirmed. Samuel and I both really liked Clyde. He was good to us but more importantly good to our mother. He was also the father of Callum. Mums eyes were welling up.
"Boys I always said I was going to be honest with you- an-and this is no different..."
"Mum are you okay?" I walked up to her, she sat down on a chair and fiddled with her fingers more. I noticed the silver ring glinting on her left hand.
"He proposed?"
She nodded her head up and down, smiling showing her pearly whites. She pulled me in for a tight hug.
"Guys help...dying slowly...man down." I pleaded. Her joyful laugh filled my ears as her hug loosened. I retreated back to my brethren, gasping for air. "You left me for dead man."
"This isn't about you dying this is about mum." I shot Samuel a glare. "What it is."
"Wait mum what's happening I forgot whilst being strangled." Her curly blond hair shook, with laughter.
"Clyde and I are getting married." For a women in her 30s she seriously did not look like a day over 27. She pulled us all in for a tight hug.
"That's really great mum, I'm so happy for you." I managed to get out with the little air I had in my lungs.
"Okay I have to go to work now." She wiped her eyes. "Love you boys so much, I'll be home around 5." She let us go and rushed out of the house. We stood in silence for a few moments.
"Great." Callum huffed and went upstairs slamming his door behind him.
"What the-" Samuel interrupted me.
"No just let him be."
"Okay okay." I raised my hands up in defence. "I'm really happy for mum."
"Yeah...Clydes a good guy, a-and if he makes mum happy he's okay in my book."
We both nodded in unison.
"Crap!" I shouted
"What?" Samuel looked at me slightly worried.
"She's gonna make us wear tuxes." I turned to Samuel.
"And comb our hair." Samuel looked horrified.
"Wait no calm your farm...." I took a deep breath in and put a hand on Samuel's shoulder. "We're gonna have to do it for mum." Samuel nodded his head in defeat. We walked to the mirror and gazed at our selves. I pulled my hair back, little blonde hairs standing up petrified.
"What if she makes us wear makeup!" Samuel gasped.
"Pffft over my dead body." I messed up my hair, letting them fall to the front of my face. Covering my brown eyes.
"video games?"
"Yeah sure, go set one up I'll be right down." I shouted to Samuel as he went down stairs.
Now what's up with Callum?
I walked ever so slowly to Callum's room to see what's wrong. I swung open his door and walked inside. I saw a dartboard with a picture of Clyde stuck on it.
"What do you think your doing?" I turned and saw Callum behind me.
"Just checking if your alright...are you?" I looked back to the dart board.
"Yeah just fine, I'm just working on my Halloween costume."
"That's not for another month."
Callum just smiled.
"Well can't be to organised, I'm making my own. I've only got contacts so far."
I looked at his eyes and they were a bright flaming red.
"Woah they almost look real."
"Yeah well thanks, now get out of my room." He said trying to push me out of his room.
"Are you hiding something?" I questioned.
"No." He slammed the door behind me and locked it.
"Sure seems like it." I mumbled.
Wedding day
Samuel, Callum and I, stood next to Clyde as we saw our angelic mum walk down the aisle. When she reached the end, I could see her glowing smile underneath the veil. When the time came for the kiss. Both Samuel and I turned our heads, it was disgusting. We heard a small laugh come from mum as we did this. There was a loud cheer. We followed them down the aisle. Samuel and I both looked at each other smiled on our faces we haven't been this happy ever. I noticed something changed in Samuels eyes. But he turned away quickly.
