Most fun thing you've done.

Most fun thing you've done

Okay. So. The previous chapter we covered mischief and my lack thereof because of my un-funness disease.

I am the Eel Marsh cross on the Nine Lives Causeway and not even the ever-lovin Daniel Radcliffe can yank me out of the muck (that is if he has any extra time off from helping to destroy a perfectly good ghost story on the cinema screen)

I'm not bitter, I swear.

BUT. If I can narrow it down to #SundayFunday "a moment of fleeting joy you felt doing something other than watching Netflix originals" I could answer that one. (I am only just realizing I have a commitment problem. I don't want to label something the "Most fun thing I've done" because what if I'm wrong, and it isn't!)

Let's call it a "happy memory," instead:

My most recent elation was at Halsey's Badlands Tour finale. Halsey's music runs through every story I write. She is a massive inspiration for me. Her lyrics are grunge-poetry for the human soul. I wish I could express myself with one/tenth of her wordsmith power. And when my sister, untroubledheart, and I had the chance to see her in concert, it was a dream come true...

But the day of the concert, I didn't want to go. We'd waited months for this particular night in August to arrive, and my introversion kicked in. I had the shittest week on record. It was hot every day and I was exhausted, plus, two days before, I'd helped tend a horse from early morning until late afternoon as he died, in terrible pain, from a gut blockage. I was the one who walked him out for the vet, and then stood and watched her put him down on the grass behind the barn. I'll never forget what part of him buckled first as the injection took over. All of this had me so emotionally taut, I thought I would break at the mere mention of driving into NYC and threading through all those people. I didn't want to go.

But I'm really glad I did.

Halsey was amazing and uplifting and the energy of the crowd was exactly what I needed to get out of my own head. She even stopped her concert after the first song. A technical issue failed to launch some pyrotechnics and she started over. She wanted it perfect.

And it was.

The cherry on top was her special guest of the evening, The Chainsmokers.

This will forever remain one of my favorite events of all time.
