[2] Sanctuary?

The next morning I awoke to my stomach crying for food. I picked up my backpack and my knife and began walking to no destination. All I could see were trees and body parts. I sighed as my legs began to ache but I wasn't going to give up, whatever it took I was going to find something to eat. In the distance I heard something moving in the trees, I got my knife at hand and decided to investigate.
"Great" I mutter to myself as I trip over a train track and hit the ground with a mouth full of dirt, the impact had led me to discover what was behind the trees. I get up and
look over at the exact spot I'd heard the movement to see a sign reading "Sanctuary for all, Community for all, those who arrive survive" followed by a map guiding me to a place called Terminus.
"If anyone else has survived this is where they are" I positively thought to myself
I followed a trail of dried up blood across the train tracks and headed to Terminus. Suddenly, a scream of agony vibrated my eardrum and sent me off my path into the woods, there I saw a girl desperately trying to fight off two walkers holding her gun but not shooting. She saw me and so did the walkers.
"PASS ME THE GUN" I screamed at the girl
The girl did so, giving me the chance to prove to myself I could survive this world. I reached down for the gun and shot at the ground to distract the walkers away from the terrified girl and towards me. I aimed right for the undead's heart and shot. My aim was so off the next bullet ended up through the walker's brain.
"Oh shit" I said quietly
But then something unexpected happened, the walker dropped to the ground. I shot the other walker in the brains too only for the same thing to occur. I'd worked out how to stop them biting into my flesh, was I the only one who knew this?. The girl I had just saved looked down as if she was telling me to do so too, there I saw a body which didn't look reanimated with a bite mark in their arm. I didn't think twice about stabbing the body through the head now I had worked out how to kill them. The girl looked at me in shock.
"Were you with them? I'm sorry" I asked while apologising for what happened to her
The girl nodded and began to cry
"It's okay, you can stay with me" I offered
Only for the girl to turn around and walk away.
"You left your gun" I said. I wanted her to know I wasn't a threat.
"Keep it" a quiet voice replied and then the girl was gone. A few miles up I saw the same sign for Terminus again but this time it was spray painted out and somebody had changed the sign to read "no sanctuary" I didn't do it and that girl couldn't have... she had no spray paint. That means people have been this way. That means it's not just me left. I smiled and continued my journey..
