Jason
When Piper came to find me at the climbing wall, I was instantly happy. I mean, my girlfriend had just come to find me, who wouldn't be?But then she told me that Chiron wanted to see us at the Big House and my mood dampened immediately. Nevertheless, I grabbed her hand and we walked.
We met up with Percy and Annabeth on the way. They also looked pissed, but who can blame them? After all they'd been through, they deserved to be left alone for the rest of their lives.
We arrived at the Big House, but we all hesitated. For all we knew, there might be a quest waiting for us inside, and no one was ready for that.
When we stepped through the doorway, the rest of The Seven, as well as my favourite (read: only) sister, Thalia, and Nico, were sitting around the conference table. The conference table was actually the ping-pong table, but it worked.
Chiron sat at the head of the table, with two empty seats to his left. I sat directly beside him, with Piper beside me. Beside Piper was Leo, then Hazel, then Frank. There was no one at the head of the table, or at the chair to the left of that. Then there was Thalia, and Nico, with an empty chair piled high with books.
Percy sat at the head of the table and Annabeth took the seat to his left. Annabeth had hopped off of his back as they came in the door. They continued to tightly grip each other's hands though.
Everyone was chatting avidly, but Chiron stomped his hoof and it immediately quieted down.
"Heroes," he began. "One of my dear friends has reached out to me for help. I agreed, and, well..."
Chiron trailed off, and took a quick glance at Percy and Annabeth, as if the next words would break them.
"The nine of you are being issued a quest," he finished.
It was silent for a moment. A quest, was Chiron kidding. The war had ended 2 WEEKS AGO for the Gods sake. Could we not get a rest. I looked around. Everyone looked disheartened to say the least, and they all had their eyes facing the same direction. I followed their gazes to see Percy. He looked broken.
"Percy-" Chiron started.
"Why," Percy interrupted, "why can't they just solve their own problems. For the first time since I was 12 I can just relax. I have a baby sister. I want to be able to see her grow up. Chiron I..."
"Percy," Chiron said, "this quest is safer than anything you've done since you were 12."
"Just explain the quest Chiron." Said Annabeth tiredly.
"My old friend, Dumbledore, contacted me. He is going to war. But, you see, Dumbledore isn't exactly a half-blood. A long time ago, Hecate blessed some mortals with the gift of magic. Over time, they have forgotten their heritage, but the magic in their blood continued to be passed down through the generations. They are witches and wizards."
I was shocked. By the looks of it, everyone else was too.
"Witches and wizards?!" Exclaimed Leo. "As in pointy hats and broomsticks?"
"Not quite my boy," answered Chiron. "Although they do play a sport on broomsticks."
"So what do you want us to do?" Asked Thalia.
"There is one boy, Harry Potter, who has been named the only one who can stop a dark wizard. He is the subject of a prophecy." Said Chiron.
"Gods, I wonder what that must feel like. You know, having to save the world." Percy muttered.
