Matty thinks of his relationship with George as a big glowing sign that says IT'S COMPLICATED in flashing neon pink.
Truthfully, it is complicated, more complicated than a maths test or getting dressed in the dark. Matty is not made for complicated, but instead simple, straightforward hookups in the gents' at bars or short term girlfriends who have cute brothers.
George is not a hookup sort of person, but the sort of person who kisses Matty on the mouth even when he's sick and watches Nigella reruns at three in the morning with pink sclera from the weed stashed in the sofa. Honestly, Matty is positive he in no way deserves someone like George and that they should never be It's Complicated.
Matty loves George, in all ways, even if their relationship is Complicated, because they're best friends and George is endlessly lovely and Matty would stay up until three am watching Nigella with him if George wanted him to.

"It's complicated."
Gemma sighs. "It's really not, love."
Matty twirls a curl around his finger and sighs. "What do I do?"
"I've no idea what to tell you except that if you don't get your head out of your ass, you're going to mess this up."
Matty is not ashamed to say that he did indeed make a whiny noise, to which Gemma replies, "How does George put up with you?"
"I give good head."
It's Gemma's turn to sigh. "You're dating him and you don't even know it. Poor darling. I've gotta run, I'll call you later, yeah?"
"Yeah, alright. Bye." Gemma hangs up before he's finished. Matty throws his phone down on the bed and throws a hand over his eyes because he enjoys being dramatic even when no one is watching.
George is very beautiful and his lips are so soft and he makes Matty laugh and he likes to eat too many sweets and he watches too much BBC and his hands are massive and so is his cock and it's sort of a Thing for Matty and George knows it's a Thing for Matty and they aren't dating but they should be.
Matty sighs. They should definitely be dating.

George is on the sofa watching The Great British Bake Off and looking very attractive even in trackies and Christmas socks and an unwashed t-shirt. Matty joins him on the sofa and curls his legs under him as George puts an arm around his shoulders.
This was a regular occurrence before they started having sex, so it's not weird only Matty has never wanted to suck anyone's cock during The Great British Bake Off before.
"Maybe you can learn a thing or two from Mary Berry and bake me a cake," Matty mumbles into George's shoulder.
George snorts. "All by myself? I think not. You'll have to help me."
"I suppose I could give encouragement as needed."
George turns his head and nips as Matty's ear. Matty shivers.
There's a knock on the door and Matty almost melts in relief. "Come in," he tries to shout. His voice comes out as a croak.
George gives him an odd look. Ross steps in with a shopping bag on his arm.
"Hello lads," he says and looks at the television. "Ooh, Mary Berry."
Matty buries his face in the sofa.
