Ezra's pov
I woke up startled still thinking I was in the orphanage but calmed down when I felt Kanan's arms holding me close... He reminds me so much of my Dad. Kanan stirred and started to wake up "Well good morning how did you sleep?" he asked "Ehh okay I guess." Kanan ruffled my hair and helped me up "Truck stopped wanna go check things out?" "Sure why not." I said smiling. We exited the boat trailer and headed towards a town searching for food along the way. In the outcome we could only find some leftover doughnuts that some bakery had plans to throw out but had mercy and gave them to us. I must admit through they were pretty tasty, my favorite was the strawberry frosted with sprinkles. Kanan looked at me and started to laugh "What? What's wrong?" He didn't answer but instead choked on his laughter "You should probably wipe your face off, it's coated in rainbow sprinkles!" I turned red with embarrassment and immediately cleaned my face off with the sleeve of my shirt. "Okay make fun of the starving orphan yeah yeah." Kanan stopped laughing and seemed solemn. "You okay?" he surprised me when he brought me in for a hug "I'm sorry I shouldn't of laughed at you like that, you're just hungry." I gasped and shook Kanan off of me "I would've laughed too if the shoe was on the other foot so don't apologize. It's normal to laugh at these kinds of things and besides I was just joking around with what I said." Kanan looked up at me smiling and ruffled my hair "Whatever you say so-." He stopped himself and put his hands over his mouth. He really thought of me has his son? I didn't think that he felt the same way I did. I stood up and extended a hand out for Kanan who was still sitting on "You ready to go dad?" He starred at me with curiosity and then smiled, grabbed my hand has he spoke "I'm ready son.".
