Here is something before I start.
We had new information.

Sam and Dean didn't find anything useful as you might have guessed by the fact that the story started 23 years earlier. However, while they were busy looking for clues I acquired new knowledge about not 1 but 2 major issues.

1. Slaidburn is a part of the Pendle witches tour.

2. The girl who died only arrived to St Andrew's a few weeks back without any notice.

Both maters are worth looking into so we did. After the last time I held a gun I became utterly useless so I assumed I should stick to research and translation. Horses for courses. As a conclusion, Sam and I did some digging. I looked up everything worth knowing about these witches and he tried to find some dirt on the young nun; both went down with success.

Here is what I found on the witch case. The trial of the Pendle witches is one of the most famous event in England's history. 12 were accused and charged with witchcraft and the slaughter of 10 in 1612. 1 died in prison, another was tried in York and the rest went on trial here in Lancaster. Out of the 11 people (9 women and 2 men) who were still alive 1 was found not guilty and 10 were sentenced and hanged on Pendle Hill. Today there is a tour called the Lancaster Witches Walk, a 7 days long walking trip but when we were there it wasn't a thing yet, only a part of a legend. The walk was created as an educational programme and the passage is set on the believed route of what the witches took from Pendle to Lancaster. It's about 51 miles long. The official programme is available since 2012 which is the 400th anniversary of the trials, but we were there in 2008. Ideally we would've taken the tour ourselves but that wasn't an option back then. Also when I took a look at the map what I was how these alleged witches went further up north while we wished to head east. This lead was put to rest.

Sam was a bit more successful then I was. He found out that the victim wasn't exactly a nun as she made everyone believe. There is no record about her what so ever under the name Sister Susan Bradford. However, Sam ran an image search and he found a woman looking just like her. Her name was Eleanor Crisfield and she got mixed up with some pretty serious stuff. Different kinds of break-ins, theft, fraud, suspect of several murders, etc. The papers somehow forgot to mention these details... Huh. Anyhow Eleanor was dirty from top to bottom but it still doesn't explain the electric cloud, her premature and beyond strange death or the motive to serve God's will.

We had some ideas, mainly just theories, so logically to move the investigation further we visited the family of the second victim. Next day, early in the morning we travelled to Leeds. While Slaidburn was a quiet little village Leeds was a jump forward. It wasn't too big, like metropolitan level, more like a semi-large city with lots of young people. Did I mention that Leeds is a student city? Because it is, therefore it's a great deal easier to blend in with boys and gals running around who are roughly about our age. They believed that we were part of a student exchange programme especially since Sam still had his student ID from Stanford. It came in handy later. Good thing nobody cared enough to see if he had a validation sticker on the back or not.

First we payed a visit to the family, as I previously mentioned. We found a devastated mother, 2 sisters and a younger brother at home - the stepfather was at work. Since the girl's death the twins took a break from uni to help their mom out at home. It used to be Gloria's responsibility since she was the one with the loan who dropped out of university which crippled the family money-wise. "We are poor, but only financially" as the mother said referring lightly to an otherwise hard-to-deal-with condition. One of the twins stayed at home to help the mom with housework and to babysit the youngest child since they couldn't afford to hire a nanny or an au-pair. The other one got a job and now she helps to deal with the money problem. The husband is often out, working, just like now. He's the father of the boy, half-brother to the remaining 2 daughters from the 1st marriage of the woman. Gloria was the oldest.

Besides their distressing story there was nothing special about the Jacksons. Common people, pretty religious folks. One thing stood out though, the circumstance of Gloria's departure from the uni. Not even her mom knew what was it all about. She was a fine student with not too good, nor too bad grades, slightly above average. One day she came home with a bag of clothes and simply stated how she's back to stay and no longer wishes to study anymore. "She heard her destiny calling." They tried to discover her motives and what was this fate BS about but you can guess how well that went. The mother gave us a list of names of her friends at the uni who might be able to help us out. We took it, wished all the best and went on our way.
