she could not save everyone
she could not rescue the world
they labeled her as weak
she tried to prove them wrongburied alive
she was buried alivelogic and intelligence was
no equivalent to
grace and beautyburied alive
she was buried aliveshe could not save everyone
she could not rescue the world
they labeled her as gay
when someone tried to save her
and rescue her world
she still remembers what it was
like to sit at that lunch table
under florescent lights and a gray sky
salty tears filling her eyes
with no one caring
except for the girl in a white sweateryears later she would tell that story to the
one she loved
and he would listen attentively
yet confirm her sexuality with caution
she would laugh it off because her heart
was cold toward it now
even though she knows who she is now
and she knows that she could not rescue the world
until she rescued herself
she knew she could not save the world
until she saved herselftoday she tries hard not to put others before herself
but it's hard when that is all she knowsburied alive
she remains buried alive
