Summer, oh lovely lovely summer, ended too soon. Too early. I never got to do everything. So much things, so little time.

School? No. It's Saturday, isn't it? Or Sunday? Yeah, definitively Sunday. Sleep...

Summer...

Guys...

All these thoughts rummaging around my dazed head in a fateful morning, where I was off in my dream land, even unconsciously thinking that it was Sunday and I shouldn't dare to succumb up to reality, I realized as my phone rang that something was wrong.

I just couldn't figure out what.

"Mmm?" I dazedly said, half holding the phone. It would slip if I didn't care enough to hold it properly.

"Hi, who is this?" Someone familiar said.

"Nove?" I whispered, falling back on my pillow, closing my eyes. "Don't you...have my number?"

"Thank god, thought I rang a drunk hobo or something. You sounded like a dude there."

I couldn't help but to slightly smile.

"Hobos," I almost fell asleep, but had to stay awake to finish my sentence. "Hobos have phones?

"Sure, yeah, okay. Hey Avy?"

"Mm?"

"You know it's Monday, right? You're gonna miss first school day."

Not that I liked school much, but I couldn't afford to come late due to, let's say, parents with anger that could maybe, probably, almost make them lose their mind and in the process choke their daughter.

Yeah, great image there.

I, by the time of 2.5 seconds, threw the phone away, rocketed back and forth, and by the next fifteen minutes I was by the door holding my All Stars with a tight grip, waving goodbye to my brother who didn't need to go to his college until Thursday.

He smiled bittersweet.

"Sorry for not waking you up,"

I hadn't time to argue, though I wanted to choke him with my shoe, I hurried out and down the stairs.

Well, as long as there's something called fashionably late, I was good. Right?

"And you are?" The teacher, Mrs. Braw, didn't even glance up as I entered through the door. She turned away from the board and fished up a small, threateningly yellow, note. Pen in ready, she waited.

"Avery Noria." I answered, feeling the hot stares people were giving me.

"Yes, be sure to be here after school." She handed me the note, gesturing me to scurry away and find a seat.

Something I should've. Could've. But, looking at the gut sinking word, I felt my cheeks getting hot.

"Detention?" I hissed. Mrs. Braw didn't even look at me as she turned her back, dribbling something on the board.

"Yes, now that I know you can read," she turned her icy glare at me. "Sit."

"It's my first school day, give me a break!" I tightened my grip on the note, feeling the anger boil.

What stiff, new, grumpy and icy teacher I've gotten. She was famous for her eyes, hurting you just by sparing you a glance.

And the rumors, god how they were true.

"I do not let tardiness go, miss Noria." She gave me her cold shoulder again. "Now, sit."

"First effing school day, miss Braw-"
