"So.. I know you don't go to high school anymore and this might seem a little boring... but I was wondering if you wanted to go to my schools Halloween party. With me." Caroline didn't know why she was so nervous. She didn't get nervous, especially not with boys. It was just one of those things that never happened. Like pigs flying or getting a chocolate milkshake when a nutella one in in the options. So when Caroline found herself being nervous, she was confused to say the least. Maybe it was because Damon was just a stubborn as her or because he was like her in so many more ways than one. To be honest, she had never went for someone like Damon. Caroline always went for people with a less strong personality. Someone who'd do as she said in a heart beat, whatever that might be. And Caroline knew that if the Damon flipping Salvatore didn't want to do something, then he wouldn't do it. And that made Caroline nervous.

"Sure."

"I understand. I knew you wouldn't want to-" Caroline said but then stopped when Damon's words suddenly hit her. He'd said yes! "Oh my God! Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

Praise the Lord. He'd actually said yes! Well that was easy.

Maybe Damon wasn't as heavy headed as she thought...

Elena was currently hiding under her blankets. When she had gotten back from The Grill, she had asked her mum why she couldn't tell them her 'big secret'. Katherine didn't seem so bothered as to why and was more than happy to just play big happy families like nothing ever happened. But Elena didn't want to do that. She didn't understand what was more important than family and if her mum wasn't going to tell her that, then Elena was going to give her the silent treatment --- as childish as that sounds.

Knock Knock.

She didn't want to leave the safety of her blankets and open the door in fact, she din't want to do anything, but the knocking persisted. Elena sighed and threw her covers of her and made her way to the door. She opened it just a bit so one eye could see who was at the door. It was Bonnie. Elena was glad that it was Bonnie and not her mum but at the same time she didn't want to talk to Bonnie either. She was just not in the mood.

"Hey Elena." Bonnie said as Elena opened the door wider, revealing her outfit which consisted of a pink dressing gown and fluffy stripped socks. As Bonnie saw what Elena's outfit she let out a gasp. "Why are you not ready?"

Elena was confused to say the least. Her and Bonnie had not been talking for a year, ever since Elena faked sick to get away from Caroline. Her loyal friend Jessica had told her that Bonnie had turned into another one of Caroline's minions. "Last time I checked we weren't talking and hadn't made any plans." she snapped.

Bonnie looked down looking ashamed and hurt. "I'm so sorry Elena. Even though you weren't coming to school, I should of come visited you after. I shouldn't have been hanging around with Caroline after I knew how she treated you but she had told me stuff about you, bad things. But I shouldn't of believed her. I know better now..."

Something told Elena that her old friend needed a listening ear. She sighed. "Come in and tell me what happened."

Bonnie had finished telling Elena about what Caroline had done to her. Bonnie had been crushing on a boy called Reese. He was a total stereotypical bad boy, he always had a lit cigarette in between in his mouth. He had a motorbike and everything. Reese had asked Bonnie out on a date and had asked Caroline to help find her a dress.

Caroline helped her pick a mint green skaters dress and Reese had taken her to the movies. The next day, she found her best friend and crush making out on the bonnet of Caroline's car. It had crushed Bonnie's heart completely and she still didn't know if she'd get over him.

She was sobbing quietly on Elena's shoulder. "It's alright." Cooed Elena but Bonnie only cried harder. Elena knew Caroline was cruel but this was a whole new level. How could she have done this to someone as inocent as Bonnie? Even if Elena wanted to be angry with Bonnie it was impossible.

Bonnie pushed heralded of Elena and sat up straight. "No. It's not alright. But I am not going to shed anymore tears over those two. They don't deserve it. And besides, the Halloween party is tommorow night and we haven't it our costumes!" Bonnie said suddenly becoming excited at the end. Elena laughed at Bonnie's reaction and she pouted. "We're going shopping!" Bonnie announced.

Elena groaned but wanted to keep her best friend happy so she agreed. Get ready for a foot ache...

Stefan still hasn't gotten a costume for the party. He didn't know what Elena was going as but he wanted to match her so he descided to send her a text.

Stefan: Hey. Just wondering what we were going to dress up as for tommorow night

Elena: Yeah I was wondering too. How about... King Henry and one of his wife's?

Stefan liked the idea and replied instantly with a 'hell yeah'. Stefan couldn't wait for tomorrow night. He lived for the parties and for some reason Stefan knew that this one was going to be one he never forgot and not for a good thing...

I changed the title of the book but only slightly. It used to be 'Bittersweet' and is now 'Cause she's bittersweet'. Look at the top for the new cover.
