UNFAMOUS [BOOK ONE] (A Wattpad 'Featured Story')

"I'm gonna kick her in her neck! Is she dumb? No but Ri, is she really dumb though? Fuckin' dirty bitch! Watch when she comes in, it's gonna be ME and HER; watch!"

Carmen crosses her arms over her chest and settles back into her space on the bed next to a highly amused Tyson who is currently rolling around in hysterics. I pull in my bottom lip and bite down hard, trying to keep my laughter from exploding as well. Carmen is glaring at everything she sets her eyes on, so I don't think that me joining in with Tyson's raucous laughter is going to help lighten her mood.

Carmen growls and leans against the wall with her nails digging into her upper arms as if she is fighting to restrain herself from taking her fury out on Tyson. Her face is set in a calculating scowl with her eyebrows drawn inwards, creating angry creases in the space between them. She is seething. I have only known Carmen for a little over a month now, but we have established a somewhat close bond already, as I predicted we would. I'm familiar with some of her mannerisms, her volatile temper being one of them, and let me tell you something, you never (and I mean NEVER) get between Carmen and a boy she likes because she is likely to go off.

On this occasion, the opposing party is none other than fast ass Sky, who -since the promiscuous endeavours of her first week here -has made no attempt to slow down. Sky must have worked her way through half of Brompton by now, and unfortunately for her, she has made the mistake of sleeping with Carmen's conquest; DJ Bless.

Carmen's temperament is similar to that of Blair Waldorf's from Gossip Girl, in the sense that when someone messes with a guy that she likes, she sits and stews over the betrayal until she can think of a fitting way to retaliate. You can tell if she really wants to get even with the offending party if she threatens to kill them, though of course that's just gas. To Carmen, killing someone means insulting and threatening them in public. None of us think that Carmen can fight -she talks way too much -but that doesn't stop us from feeling for her victims (no matter how deserving) because Carmen has a volatile mouth on her and is nothing short of vindictive when pushed. Once she gets going, she doesn't quit until she is certain that she has won.

The last time I saw her in action was at our first coach rave up in Coventry, deftly named 'Rep Your Country'. Everyone was there – by everyone I mean all the Unfamous people that mattered from each Uni and then some.  I acquired some promising new contacts that night.  Anyway; the Fabulous Five was in full effect, each dressed stylishly in our country colours with our flags incorporated as an accessory in some way, resembling our cliques namesake exceptionally well if I must say so myself. I was repping Guyana, Carmen: Jamaica, Fontaine: Italy and Dominica, Yoshi: Japan, and Sky: Ireland. Word had gotten out about the Brompton Five, so we were kind of a hot commodity -which I was beaming about for days afterwards- all eyes were on us.

Since the Fresher's Rave at Club Purple, Carmen had been head-over-heels for Tyson's new friend, DJ Bless. Out of the 'Five' that night, Bless had set his sights on Carmen and had dedicated a song in the slow jam section especially for her, after which he -uncharacteristically for a DJ -left the booth to dance with her. From that moment on, Carmen was completely and utterly smitten with the attractive, high powered, young man. The girl was one Instagram like away from a restraining order. She and Amari hit it off pretty well and were now talking...like 'talking' talking, which of course in girl world now made him off limits to everything with a vagina.

On the night of 'Rep Your Country', Bless wasn't working so he was crushed up in the middle of the rave with the rest of us, whining to some sweet Soca music, when a pretty young thing from Langford University decided that she would like to sample his waistline on the dance floor. Carmen spotted the girl from a mile off, and later explained to me that her 'Hoe-dar' was going off because that 'tramp' was heading straight for Bless. She watched as this newcomer gyrated a few inches in front of Bless (trying to entice him with her fluid hip movements), waited until the girl was brave enough to raise her foot to take a step back so that she would be whining directly on him, and Carmen stuck out her foot. The Langford girl tripped and landed on the floor with her too short skirt exposing what it was meant to conceal; it was not a good look –she hadn't waxed! We all busted out laughing, and the girl ran away embarrassed.
