A/N: Just to clear up any confusion since this question gets asked a lot. This story is based in the UK (London to be specific) and here is how our education system works in comparison to the US.

Secondary school = High school. We attend from 11-16 years old

College = High school (Senior year). We attend from 16-18 years old (though you can attend this establishment at any age (above 16) to obtain extra qualifications). This is where we get the qualifications to go to university.

University = College. We attend from 18+

I want it all; designer labels I'll have to sacrifice feeding myself for, the finest weaves money can buy, streams of endless events where I'll be rubbing shoulders with some of the best of young urban London, making friends with certified underground celebrities who have connections to the real ones, living away from home being able to do what I want, when I want. Fortnightly mani/pedi's accompanied by fabulous cocktails and the latest gossip with my new girlfriends 'just because'. Sexy, young, eligible bachelors with great prospects, who drive nice cars, lusting after me and showering me with expensive gifts and becoming part of an untouchable 'power couple', like a mini Beyoncé and Jay-Z! Everyone knowing my name -Rio Antoinette Greene -and it holding the kind of weight that can open doors and break hearts.

This is it; the first day of the rest of my new life, the day I begin my mission to become one of the Unfamous.

It's the age of the non-celebrity, where the social networks have become an easy access platform to make any and everybody a star in their own right –without really making them a star –taking being popular to a whole new level. It's no longer enough just to be known amongst your peers; people are now striving to be known worldwide. With the drop of an entertaining YouTube video, a collection of eye-catching photographs plastered across Tumblr and Instagram, and a daily selection of candid tweets, you can become a star in a matter of weeks.  It really is that easy; all you have to do is get people to take notice of you and you are on your way to being a sensation. That's what being an Unfamous is about; being sensational, being the kind of person that causes a stir. Admired by many and secretly hated by more, knowing a lot of people and a lot of people craving to say they know you.

This is the dream I am preparing to make my reality, starting now.

From the outside looking in, being one of the Unfamous looks so delicious, and I will make sure that I get a taste of it. I know it must seem strange to want something so superficial so badly, but I'm not alone. Secretly, everyone wants it, but only a few are actually willing to go after it, and out of that few, only a handful make it.

There's a difference between being popular and being an Unfamous.  Being popular is being well known and generally quite likeable.  Being an Unfamous is that, plus adopting the unspoken status of underground royalty. It doesn't matter if people like you or not, they respect you.

For what I want, popularity is simply not enough.  Why? I'm tired of being insignificant! Honestly, that is my reason. You may think it's a pretty pathetic thing for someone to say about themselves, but it's the truth. I am insignificant and I've had enough of it. It's time for them to notice me; all of them.

Over the summer holiday I concocted various strategies to become one of the Unfamous. You see, my whole secondary school and college career consisted of me being that girl in the back of the class that didn't matter. I wasn't invited to any of the 'right' parties, I never got to hang out in the places where 'they' did because I wasn't important enough to warrant an invitation -and even if I did decide to turn mad one day and show up, I'd either be ignored due to my irrelevance, or stick out like a sore thumb and risk being ridiculed.
