It had been four months. Twelve weeks. Eighty-four days. And Phil still hadn't told Dan how he felt about him. He still hadn't told Dan how his stomach did a backflip whenever he looked in to those warm, comforting brown eyes; comforting like a long hug and your favourite oversized sweater. He hadn't told him how glowing pink rosebuds gradually crept their way into his pale cheeks whenever Dan was in the room, or how he couldn't get the image out of his head of the smiley boy with adorable dimples. He had planned to do so today.
The dorky boy smiled goofily to himself as he wrote out a text to Dan:
Danny boy get ur butt hereText message from: Dan
Lol why what did you do
And don't call me that you weirdo 😂"What's up, Philly?" the boy with the adorable sad-face-dimples laughed confidently as he strolled in to the living room casually.
"Dan, I-"SIND DAS ESSEN NEIN WEISS DE JEAGER
"Ughhh. Wait, who is this?" Phil questioned confusedly, furrowing his brow in thought about who it might be.
"Answer it and find out then, you idiot!" Dan grinned jokingly.
"Uhh... Hello...?"
"Phil?" a familiar voice asked shrilly, dripping with stress and worry.
"What-what are you calling for?" Phil had intended to sound cruel and harsh, and he had nailed it. The very last person on earth he wanted to hear from right now was his bitter ex girlfriend, especially when he was milliseconds away from confessing his love to someone. And after finally building up all of his courage and confidence to tell them, he was being interrupted.
"Phil, don't freak out, okay?" the voice sounded nervous and apprehensive at the other end of the phone.
"What is it?" Phil had begun to feel slightly concerned now, as his ex girlfriend clearly had something she was dreading telling him about.
"I-I have something to tell you" she stuttered. A few moments of silence passed achingly slowly, as Phil waited impatiently for her to tell him what was bothering her so much that she couldn't even speak properly. "Phil, I- we.........You're a father."
"What?!" the ebony haired boy exclaimed. He, Phil Lester, was a father. "Why didn't you tell me any sooner?!"
"I thought... I thought that you hated me... and-and that you wouldn't want to have any part in this." she spoke slowly, as if treading cautiously on a thin film of crystal clear ice, covered in frost, at the top of a thirty-feet-deep lake.
"When are you giving birth then?" he questioned contentedly.
"......um, the baby's actually already been born."
"Wha-why...why didn't you tell me?!" Phil stuttered, speechless.
"I-I...sorry...... Anyway, she's four months old now. Her name is Daisy. She was born in June, on the eleventh.
"Woah, we have the same birthday!" Dan grinned. He was no longer depressed, and he had absolutely no intention of ever allowing himself to become so damaged ever again. As long as his best friend had happiness in his life, he would have happiness too. He had decided this after what Phil had told him. "Congratulations, Phil! Now you'll actually have someone other than the phandom calling you Dad!"
"...yeah" Phil replied. Was he going to have to leave Dan again? This time was it going to be forever?
"Oh, is that Dan? How are you?" she asked innocently.
"Mmm? Oh yeah, I'm good, thanks for asking!" the llama-loving boy answered happily.
"Phil, can you...move in again...and be a father to Daisy? I haven't told you about her until now because I thought that I could raise her alone. The truth is, I'm not earning nearly enough money and I can't go to work for long enough every day to fix that. With you here I think I'll be able to manage." she sounded incrediblly pleased with herself for reaching out to other people.
The boy with eyes the colour of the sky looked towards Dan, praying not to have to leave. He nodded to Phil; he was happy for his best friend. Phil had been hoping that he wouldn't have to go, having been finally reunited with Dan. Why did she have to ruin everything? Why did she have to drag him away so forcefully and cruelly from the one that he loved? No. He was being so selfish! This was his first child, and he needed to let her grow up with her father.
"Okay... I'll move back on... Monday?" he questioned. He wanted to spend his last precious weekend of blissful happiness and freedom with his favorite person - Dan.
"Okay, sure! I'll see you in a couple of days, then. Bye Dan, bye Phil!" she chirped.
"Bye!" the pair said in unison, staring at eachother questionably and then dissolving in to a thousand fits of joyful laughter.
"You okay with this, Dan? I don't want you to be... sad... like you were before." Phil worried desperately, wanting to make sure that he wouldn't make Dan unhappy again.
"I'll be fine, Phil. But let's talk about your daughter! PHIL LESTER, YOU'RE A DAD!!" Dan erupted excitedly, pulling him in to a tight hug that set millions of butterflies free in his stomach.
"I know!!" Phil laughed hysterically back, poking his tongue between his teeth. Maybe it was going to be okay. As long as Dan was going to be happy, so was he.
