I frowned at myself in the mirror when I saw her nails on my neck." Damn."

"Sorry about." She says. I ignored her." Why don't you come back to bed." She purred. I looked at her through the mirror. I pulled my jacket of my shoulders and walked out. Outside of her loft it's cold, dark out and pouring down hard. I stuffed my hands in my pockets and jogged to the parking lot. I dialed Cy's number.

"Hello?" He finally answered on the fifth ring.

"Hey Cy, sorry to wake but has a woman named Natalie come over?"

I heard him yawned." Ummmm....no...no one besides Zoë, who by the way was beyond happy to see me, she had some stuff she wanted you to sign. She saw me and she literally threw the damn folder at me face."

"Well, you put yourself in that predicament. I'll try to stop her from dancing on your grave."

"How comforting." He sighed. I chuckled." So that this doesn't happen again I'm staying in a hotel for a while where there's no crazy Latinas. That I know."

"You think that will help your case?"

"I'm be more than happy to take suggestions."

"Hmm. Well, good lucky with that. Have fun." He groaned. I hang up. I pulled off the freeway and drove to a Waffle House nearby. The bell rang when I went inside. There was only a few people inside. Two old men laughing over a cup of coffee in the booth by the door, another man on the counter eating pie and in the far left corner in a booth was someone in a hoodie reading a menu.

They all stopped what they were doing to looking at me expect the hooded person. I nodded at them, they nodded back then turned back to want the were doing. I slide on the stool by the corner. A woman in she fifties smiled at me when she went out from the back room." Here ya go darlin' go through that and I'll be right back to take your order." She accent was strong, like she was from Tennessee. I took the menu and smiled.

"Thanks." Went through the menu and blueberry waffles caught my eyes. I closed the menu. I glanced over my shoulder and saw she talking to the person in the hoodie, who was a in fact girl. A pretty one at that.

The girl got up and hugged the woman." Ok you take care of yourself now." The old woman said. The girl nodded then grabbed her bag a left. When I was done eating, I tipped the woman and went in my way.

"Ah shit!" I stopped walking towards my car and looked over to the bus stop across the road. And there she was. It was raining even harder. I continued walking to my car. I pulled up at the bus stop. She was drenched and shivering.

"Need a lifted."

"Err...n-no th-thank you." She answered.

"I'm not some predator if that's what you're thinking. It's almost 1 am I'm sure there's no more buses coming this way until 6:30 and it's going rain like this all day."

"No thanks." She says. I stared at her in the dim light her features are hard to make out. I sat back in my seat." What are you doing?"

"Since you want to stand there in the rain I'm not going to stop you. By all means enjoy. Oh, and while you're standing there please keep a look out for predators who'll want to have their way with me." She shook her head then groaned.

"Fine."

"Soo," she ignored me and stared out the window." What brings you out here?" And silenced. I frowned." Its rude to ignore people, you know." She sighed.

"I'm trying to get to my dad's."

"So you're what fifteen? And traveling to your fathers place by yourself?"

"I'm seventeen." She corrected me.

"Ahuh, this doesn't make that ok now does it? I'm sure your mom is probably worried about you." She chuckled." What so funny?" I glanced at her. She was still looking out the window.

"Maybe but she won't know I'm gone until she wakes up."

"So...you did run away." I said.

I sighed in frustration." Yes, yes you an say that." I tapped on the steer wheel like a drum.

"Does your fath--"

"Can you just stop with the questions!" She snapped. I stopped the car abruptly. She jerked forward.

"Well, here's your stop." I smiled a unlocked the door.

"A police station! Are you crazy they'll call my mom."

I faked gasped." They do? Oh, I had no idea," she studied me," can you go willingly or like drag you out myself."

"I'm sorry. Ok, please, please, please don't make me go in there. If I get a place to stay, I promise I'll get my dad to pick me then I'll call my mom."

"Hmm. Not best idea. Why don't you want to be with your mom?"

"She treats me like I'm not even there!" She outburst caught me completely by surprise," when her new husband is around it's like I'm invisible and when he's not I'm her little girl again." I locked the door and started driving.

She looked at me confused." I hope you clean up after yourself, if not I'm kicking you out."

"I will, I promise. Thank you."

I nod." Don't mention it. What's your name? If you don't mine me asking."

"No not at all. It's Merlayla."
