Chapter 7: Decisions
Song: You Lie- The Band Perry
~Monday~
“Get up, Dustin,” Alex growled as I opened my eyes to see a smirking grin on his face.
“What...?” I muttered. “What time is it?” I rolled over in my bed and moved my pillow so that it was resting on top of my head.
“It's time for you to get up so that you can go to class. I'm not going to have to wake you up everyday like I did last year, will I?” Alex then proceeded to rip the covers off of my body, exposing me to the cold, frigid air of the morning.
“Ah! Dammit! Alex, it's cold dude,” I griped as I quickly moved to pick up a gray sweater and some sweat pants that were carelessly thrown onto the floor sometime ago. I muttered a few curses about how it was like I was still living with my mom in a 'best guy friend' kind of way.
I looked at the calendar and then widened my eyes: it was Monday, and today was the day that Reynard had his audition at four o' clock at Frank's office. I also remembered that Alex said that he had a plan for today; Alex's plans were usually a bit less than reliable, so this was not helping my nerves at all, especially because I really liked Reynard, and he may assume that I'm a complete and total weirdo if he bases my insanity off of Alex and his plans. Hopefully Reynard would see that I just like to have a spontaneous friend nearby and that I can be a mature, loving, sweet boyfriend unlike Jared. That shouldn't be too terribly hard right?
All I had to do was get through classes and hope that Alex wouldn't do anything stupid; that was a lot to ask for, unfortunately....
“So do you actually have a plan for what to do about Reynard?” I asked as I made my way to the bathroom and washed my face thoroughly along with the vigorous scrubbing of my teeth. Needless to say, I was anxious for today in general.
“Ah, let's just get through the day and why don't you let me take care of the plan, okay?”
“So you mean that you haven't thought of what you're going to do.” I said blankly, glaring at him.
“Hey, hey, I never said that directly, but...yes, I'm still working on it, okay, Dustin? Love isn't as easy as just a date or anything like that, it actually takes thought and effort; something that you still need to work on, my friend.” Alex was packing up his backpack and shrugging with his back turned to me.
I lightly threw an old towel from the floor at him. “Says you,” I said as I also tried to finish packing up for school. I tossed in my papers and books and grabbed my backpack by the top and slung it over my back. “So I guess that I'll see you at lunch then?”
“Not likely; I'll still probably be figuring out what to do about Reynard. But I could get lucky, though, and may actually be setting up at Frank's for all that you know. Just saying.”
“Do whatever you need to do, Alex. I trust you...just don't mess it up for me. I really like this guy.” I glared at him to seal my point before leaving our dorm and headed to class.
