Daryl's P.O.V

"Hey Rick, me and Beth are gonna go on a run, just to maybe find Hershel something so he can get around easier." "Ok, be safe brother." He said and I nodded my head. I can't even believe I asked Beth to go on a run. I swear I wasn't even thinking! She's not ready, not yet. Maybe she'll be alright. Maybe I'm just being more worried than truthful. I just can't stand the fact of losing her. She's become one hell of a woman though. She went from being suicidle and a rape victim, to one hell of a force of nature, she's quick. I've noticed that and she's gotten stronger since we started to train. She'll be ok. We will be ok. I saw Maggie and Beth sitting by my motorcycle waiting for me. "You ready?" I asked. "As I'll ever be." She said and hugged her sister. "Be safe out there." Maggie whispered. Beth nodded and Maggie kissed her cheek. "Please bring her back safe." "If she don't come back safe I don't know what I'd do. But don't worry, she'll be ok." I said. I turned my head to see Beth blushing madly. I smirked. Maggie smiled. "Thank you, Daryl." I nodded my head and started my bike. Carl opened the gate for us and we were off. As we sped down the highway Beth clung to my back. This made me feel funny, like your stomach starts to feel weird and you feel like you are about ready to puke. Yeah that. It's weird I've never felt this before, I never get car sick, bike sick or whatever you call it. All I know is that I am ready for this ride to be over. As I turned into a big building. "I don't know what this place is, but we are gonna check it out." I said as I turned off the bike. "Ok, I don't see any walkers around here, outside atleast. Who knows what's on the inside." She muttered. I grabbed my crossbow and flashlight. "You got your knife and your guns safety is off right?" I asked. She checked. "Yeah I'm good." "Ok let's get this show on the road." I mumbled and pounded my fist on the door. We waited for a good 20 seconds then went in. "Maybe there isn't any in he-" Beth was cut off by a walker grabbing her ankle. "AGH!" She screamed as she fell to the ground. I turned around and pointed my crossbow at it trying to shoot the damn thing but I couldn't. I grabbed my knife and plunged it into its skull. As it let go of Beth she pulled up her pant leg to look for scratches. "You good? No scratches right!?" I aske fantically. She smiled and looked up at me. "No I'm fine Daryl. I'm ok." I nodded my head and started to look around a bit more. "This looks like some kind of store? Maybe it has something useful. I don't think we are gonna find a fake leg here." Beth said sadly. "Keep an eye out for amuntion. We need it. Also maybe some clothes for the baby when it comes, and some- hey, where you going?" I called as she started to walk away. She put a finger to her lips silencing me. She gave me a look as if she heard something. I walked over to her with my crossbow pointed. "I think there's someone here, I heard something fall." She said in a hushed voice. I nodded my head and started to creep forward. I heard something else. It sounded like a box being kicked. As I turned the corner about forty walkers looked up and started to come at us. "GO! RUN!" Yelled to Beth and she took off me following from behind. As I opened the door and ran outside walkers were everywhere. Shit. I looked around for Merle's bike. When I looked at the spot where I left it, I found that it wasn't there. "What the hell." I muttered. Beth was at my side looking up at me with a questioning look. "The woods, we'll lose them in the woods." She nodded and we both ran. We ran faster than we have ever before. Walkers were still chasing us when we got to the trees. As we were running I saw black smoke coming from what looked like a chimney. I tapped Beth's shoulder and she doubled over breathing hard. "There's a house over there, come on we need to hurry." I said. "G-Give me a m-minute." She said gasping for breathe. I sighed and picked her up. She let out a yelp as I started to run. We needed to get out of there. I didn't have a choice to take a minute. So I had to pick her up. As I made it to the house I saw a fire was burning in the fireplace. Walkers started to get closer and I shut the door and locked it and did the same to the windows throwing the curtains over them. "Be quiet." I said. And she nodded her head and laid her head down on the sofa. " I'll keep first watch." I said. When I didn't hear a response I turned around and saw Beth looking very uncomfortable, but asleep. I thought I better look around just to be safe. I walked around and saw a bedroom. Looked comfortable enough maybe they had some clothes Beth could borrow. It's getting colder and she needs warmer clothes. I turned the corner and saw a nursery. Please don't let there be a baby in there. I didn't hear anything walking around but I hope there isn't any dead baby in there. I creaked open the door and everything looked as neat a could be. I was confused but kept looking. I saw a banner hung up on the ceiling. "Welcome Home Jack!" It read. They never made it home. The woman had her kid, but never made it home. I sighed. Beth can't see this she'll be heartbroken. I heard something bang on the closet door. I gently opened the door and backed up. Out walked a younger looking woman. She looked to be about 19. I quickly stabbed her head and threw her out the window. Beth can't see this. I had to get read of it. I took down the banner and put it away. When I found Beth again she looked even more uncomfortable with her head hanging now. Her necks gonna hurt in the morning. I hesitated but picked her up bridal style and carried her to the bedroom. As I laid her down and covered her up, I saw the bags under her eyes. She shouldn't be having bags under her eyes. I'll have to confront her about that. I walked out of the room and sat on the couch. We'll get home tomorrow. Hershel and Maggie is probably worried sick. But Beth'll be okay. I made a promise that I'd protect her. And Dixon's don't break their promises. I just hope they don't worry to much.
