We carried everything in, I carrying bags full of clothes and Will caring two mattresses. We placed everything in my room, while going back down to the car to get the groceries.

After putting everything away Will said good night and went to his room. I sighed and cleaned the apartment as best as I could.
An hour later I went into my room and smiled at the things we just purchased. I was so excited I felt the butterflies fluttering in my stomach. I began unpacking the clothes and toys. I spaced out the beds and put the new blankets I bought on them, pink flower one for Rosie and a blue baseball one for Aden. It was two in the morning before I thought everything was perfect.

“Val! Come on get up!” Will whisper yelled in my ear.

I sat straight up, looking at him confused. “What? Whats wrong?”
“She's here!” He hissed.

“Shoot!” I squealed jumping out of bed, running to my closet throwing on jeans an a cute sweater.

“I just need to ask you some questions and then evaluate your house is suitable for the others,” her voice rang from the hallway. My nerves were out of control! I walked into the kitchen and Will was sitting there, with a nice white button up shirt and dark jeans. Good, at least he was taking this seriously. The lady was older and had short red curly hair. She had glasses and was dressed in all black.

She looked up at me and then down at her papers, “You must be Valarie Margret Johnson, I'm Mrs. Benson, your social worker.”

I nodded, not wanting to speak. “So on with the questioning.” Will nodded. “Alright, then.”

She readied her papers and looked up at me. I was still standing in the doorway of the kitchen. “You may go dear, I'll call you in later.” I nodded and shot a worried look at Will before walking back to my room.

My room didn't look as perfect as it did last night. Oh God, what if this doesn't go good? What then? I need to get out of here! I opened the window about to jump onto the ledge. I would do more damage then good if I left but the cool breeze felt good and helped calm my nerves. I sat there until a knock came from my door. I sighed, the nerves returning, as I opened the door.

“Your turn.” Will said and walked down the hall and into his bedroom. Okay you can do this, I chanted to myself while I made my way to the kitchen.

“Oh good, there you are.” the social worker said, as she saw me, “sit, sit. Nothing to worry about dear, just answer some questions that are mandatory, alright?”

I nodded, “Yes ma’am.”

She smiled, “You two are so polite.”

“Thanks, our mom really drilled that into us when we were younger.” I told her smiling at the memories of my mom, showing us to respect our elders.

“That's good, kids now days aren't polite.” She told me grimly, “they don't respect anyone or anything.”

“They don't understand, that the elder are smarter than we are, I mean honestly we relay on technology too much. Besides they don't know what its like to have their whole world ripped right out from under them. They don't understand that everything the elders say is true, they won't know until its to late and by then you can't take back all the disrespect they gave them.” I ranted on angrily.

She smiled and laughed a little. “You are one bright girl.”

“Sorry, it just irritates me that teenagers don't respect elders because they think they're so smart.”

“Couldn't agree more.” She told me smiling she looked down, “Okay, so have you gone without food while living with your brother?”

“No. We always have something to eat.”

She nodded and continued, “ever gone without a roof over your head while under the care of your brother?”

“No. We've lived here for three months and Will before that lived here for two months.”

“Has he ever hit you while angry?”

“No. He gets angry but would never lay a finger on me our anyone.”

She nodded. “Alright, I'll have a look around.” She got up and began rummaging through the cupboards. My legs were shaking as I made my way to Will's room, I knock lightly. I wasn't sure he heard me, I was about to knock again when the door flew open. “She going around the house now.”
He nodded and followed me into the living room. We sat on the small sofa shaking in fear.

It felt like forever before, the social worker came back into the living room. She was reviewing her notes.

“Your house isn't perfect, a few minor details that need to be fixed. The interviews went okay.” She said snapping her book and placing it by her side, “I see no reason why you can't become guardian of all three children.”

“Really!?” I shouted jumping to my feet. Oh God...

She laughed, “Yes really. A week from Friday should work.” She muttered.

“Next Friday?” Will asked the smile still plastered on his face.

“Your brother and sister will join you.” she smiled at our surprised expression. “you filled out all the paper work already, this was the last step, so yes a week from Friday. I got to go, but congratulations.”

Will thanked her and showed her out.

“We did it!” I shouted wrapping my arms around him and he twirled me.

Could life get any better?
