“Are you okay?” Avery asked as we walked outside after school. I nodded not really listening to him. I’ve been thinking if Aden and Rosie were safe here, of course I wanted them here with me so we could be a family but the risks..

“You sure, you seem..distracted.” He said pulling me to a stop.

“I’m fine.” I told him looking into his concerned, yet loving eyes. Woah what?  Loving? Doubt it.. I shook my head to clear that thought away.

“You can tell me you know.” He told me after staring into my eyes for a long moment.

I nodded, “I know.”

He smiled slightly, “Good.”

I smiled in return and threw my arms around him. He laughed and squeezed me tightly to him.

I sighed resting my head on his chest, “Do you think I’m doing the right thing?” I whispered as he leaned his head against my hair.

“About what?” He’s husky voice whispered in my ear and instantly I smiled.

“About bring Aden and Rosie here, do think its safe? Do you think I can do it?” I asked pulling away from him to look him in the eyes.

He looked confused but smirked, “Do I think you can do it?” He laughed, “Valarie you’re probably the only one who I think could do it. You’re strong and independent, you love them with your whole heart. You’re going to be fine, you’re going to be perfect.” He wrapped his arms around me once again and pulled me to his chest, “you’re perfect.”

I blushed and tears rolled down my cheeks, I snuggled into his chest. He made everything better and I couldn’t help but feel warm and loved. Somewhere in the back of my mind, it was shouting at me to let go of him, to not get attached. Too late, I told it..

“Come on, it’ll be fine.” Avery told me as he pulled into his driveway. My heart went on overdrive and I couldn’t breath. Avery squeezed my hand in comfort and  I turned my head to look at him. I was suddenly captured by his eyes and I calmed almost instantly. “As long as you're with me you’ll be fine. Promise.”

I nodded still mesmerized by his honey colored eyes. I smiled and my mind told me to not go in there but I couldn’t remember why.

We walked into his house hand in hand. “Avery!” Lux squealed as she ran to him.

He smiled, letting go of my hand and wrapped his arms around her. She giggled as they spun around, “You remember, Valarie, don’t you?”

She nodded quickly, overly excited, “I remember, I remember everything.” She turned to me with a dimpled smile, “I also remember you promised to play dolls with me.”

I smiled, “I did, didn’t I.” I looked at Avery, “if you don’t mind.”

He frowned but shrugged, “Avery you have to share!” Lux told him sternly.

He smirked, “I don’t share well.” he told her but looked at me. I blushed as I laughed looking anywhere but at him.

“Too bad.” she stuck out her tongue at him and squirmed out of his grip and ran to me holding out her small hand. “Let's play.” She led me up the stairs.

I turned around to see Avery looking at us, smirking. Without thinking, I winked at him, and before I could turn away from him, I saw his face light up.

Give it ago.. my heart jumped and I blushed.
