“There you are.” Ryder exclaimed when I got back at lunch, I smiled slightly.
“Worried?” I joked.
“Yeah, you were going to see a drunk maniac.” He told me sitting down next to me.
“He wasn't even bad, besides, he's not drunk anymore.” I told him sternly. Stop being so defensive I told myself.
“I see.. and how sure are you about that?”
“A hundred and ten percent sure.” I smirked.
“Oh holy one how did you do it?” He bowed to me.
I hit his arm playfully, “Stop.” I laughed, “We had an understanding.” I told him biting into a apple.
“'An understanding' is that what they're calling it now days?” he asked using air quotes. “I wasn't aware.”
I shook my head in horror. “God no. What do you take me for? A slut?”
He shrugged laughing and I gaped at him, “your face.” he laughed, “No really though Val, you're the least sluttiest girl here.”
“Thanks.” I muttered sarcastically.
“You didn't let me finish.” he smirked.
I rolled my eyes, “Continue.”
“It's nice being with a girl who doesn't throw themselves at me all the time.” he told me and I smiled.
“Aw, Ryder..” I gushed. He just smiled wider, blushing.
“Hey. Are you blushing?” Molly asked laughing as she sat down.
“Yes, yes he is.” I told her, smirking as Ryder glared. He then smirked and his eyes flashed with amusement, making my smirk falter.
“What?” I asked cautiously looking over my shoulders, making sure no one was there.
He smirked, “I'm going to get you for that?”
“Huh?” I asked confused.
“I guess you'll be surprised.” he shrugged. “So party, you're still in right?”
“I don't know...” I said causally rotating my apple in my hand, examining it like it was the most interesting thing in the world.
“What?!” Molly screamed, “we had a plan!”
“Jeez chill, I'm going.” I laughed biting the apple.
“Good.” she sighed.
“Don't do that.” Ryder elbowed me in the side.
I glared, “what?”
“Don't freak us out like that.”
“Come on, its not like you care if I went or not.” I rolled my eyes.
“Not care?!” He asked shocked, “Valarie you don't really think that do you?”
I shrugged, “Only because I've only just met you.”
“Well, weather we just met or not I would care if you were there.”
“Yeah besides, I don't want to hang out by myself all night.”
“Hey!” Ryder shot her a look.
“Don't give me that look, we both know you'll end up hooking up with some girl leaving me alone.” she told him then muttered really quietly, “Like you do every time.”
“I won't do that to you.” He said seriously taking her hands to comfort her. She smiled slightly looking into his eyes.
“Aw...” I let slip before I could stop myself. They both pulled away blushing and looked awkwardly around.
“That's double.” Ryder told me. Molly laughed nervously and I laughed at them.
They were too cute together..
“Hey, whats up?” The voice made me stiffen in fear and I looked up to met his gaze. “Can I talk to you?” he asked.
I looked at Molly and Ryder they were both staring between me and Jeff. I turned back to him and nodded, standing up I followed him. He turned around and leaned on his car, he looked like how is brother would wait for me in the mornings. I pushed that thought away and focused this was Jeff not Avery.
“What happened?” he asked, his voice hard and less friendly than I've ever heard it before.
I flinched, “nothing, I just need to explain to him,” I swallowed hard, I needed to move on, “about us.”
His lips twitched, “How did he take it?”
I shrugged, “I'm not sure.” I lied.He full on smiled and put his hands on my waist pulling me closer to him. “Good.” he whispered against my lips. My heart was telling me this was wrong while my brain was telling me he was the best choice.
I smiled when I realized I could be happy with him and closed the milli space between us.
