Sean's POV
Just when things were picking up with me I had to get a phone call!
"Hello" i answered looking at Kate.
"Sean, we need your here at headquarters. How soon can you come?" Came a lady's voice
I knew at once who called me. Why are they calling me to headquarters? I haven't been there since i left a year ago.
Confused by this I left Kate on the couch and walked into the kitchen to continue with this conversation.
"Ashlyn, if there's something he needs to speak to me about tell him to call me him self."
"I am speaking on his behalf"
"Where is he Ashlyn?"
"In his office going over some documents."
"Put him on" I commanded.
"Fine but im going to blame you if he gets angry"
"Sure"
After a few seconds came a cheerful voice
"I heard you made a fuss with Ashlyn here. Well I wouldn't expect any less from you."
"Dad!" I said matching his cheerful voice
"No, its your grandmothers' sleeping ghost." He retorted sarcastically.
"Dad, what's goin on? Why this sudden call?"
"I need you help son. A client came in saying he wanted to make a contract. But refused to do so with anyone other than you."
"Why is he asking for me? I'm not an employed in your office."
"Well he is from my other business. You see he was so impressed by the assignment you carried out last year, that he's not willing to make a contract with anyone else. I told him that I'll get back to him within the week. Come to headquarters so I can discuss the terms and conditions with you son."
Not Again I thought
"Well I can't come now. Something important has come up and I won't be available for..." how long shall I say? "some time."
"Hmm. Okay then I'll come there to discuss this with you"
"I have guests staying over so you can't come"
"Till when do you have these 'guests' staying there?" he asked with amusement in his voice
"I don't know, just don't come. I'll give you a call when I'm free okay?"
"Fine. Don't make me wait too long."
"Yeah."
After that I cut the call. I should really tell my dad that I want to leave this business for good. Ah well I have something more important for now.
I went to the fridge and took out a bottle of water.
While walking to the living room I remembered that Kate was goin to tell me about how she landed up in that state before we kissed.
We kissed.
I felt relieved that she had initiated the kiss. I thought that she wouldn't like me in that way. I mean Marshall, Shaun and all keep bugging me with how much I like her and all.
Everyone can see that I feel greatly for her. But, I can't tell her yet. She's got her share of burdens I know. until she is ready i cant force my feelings onto her.
But the feeling that arises in me every time we talk is so different compared to others. I want to listen more and talk more. Her smile make my heart flutter, her personality and character is so enchanting and that kiss just now, God that was so good!! It felt right to kiss her.
I want to be there with her and protect her. I want to be her support.
For all this I need to earn her trust. I'll go slow. Build it mutually so that we will grow together.
But what happened to her today? She disappeared the last time we went out. And she comes here today injured and her knee dislocated.
I need to know what's going on in her life to be able to protect her. Determined to find out I went to the couch.
I gave Kate the bottle of water "Here" and asked her with a serious expression. "Tell me. Tell me everything from the beginning.
"Okay." She replied her eyes full of pain but a smile portraying trust.
