Chapter 10

Kate's POV

"Where do I start?" I asked practically no one he qusetion. I looked at Sean, a look of concern and interest portrayed on his face; Waiting and giving me time to assemble my thoughts.

"It was a couple of years ago when my life went haywire"

"My dad... Well, Let's say he doesn't live an honest life."

"I was following his footsteps for quite some time..... And truthfully it was fun... The thrill, the adrenaline rush, man I loved that life"

"But things went wrong. I didn't know why he did it, but he did."

With a look of confusion Sean asks "What did he do?"

I turned towards him and said with a dead expression "He killed my mom."

His eyes widened with shock.

I continued "I ran away that night. And now, im in hiding. Hiding from him cause he wants to kill me."

"Today I was attacked by professionals. The only thing I could think of was wanting to meet you after I defeated them." A slight blush was visible on my face.

I waited till he fully absorbed the information. The silence was deafening. Patiently I waited for him to say something.

"So your dad killed your mom and now your running away from him cause he wants to kill you and have sent mercenaries' to do so?" He asked.

"Yeah, pretty much" i said amused by his comprehension level for this information i just gave him.

"Do you know what made your father ki... Do that to your mom?"

"Its okay you can say killed. It was quite a while ago. And no I don't know why he did that. But I intend to find out." I said with a look of determination.

"You know Sean, he just looked at her body lying on the floor and he had a cold look on his face as he stood there over her. When I saw her there I was utterly shocked. He didn't say anything; he just held the knife in his blood covered hand. He called some of his employees and locked me in the room. Said he'll come for me."

"The only thing that could mean was that he would kill me next."

"But your his daughter, i don't think he would kill you." He said

"You know after how he took care of my mom and me I never thought of him as a bad guy, ever. Even after his harsh training and when I was tortured by his right hand man I never held it against him. I thought it was for my betterment, so I could advance in the field of work we were in. But now... I don't know if it was all an act or not."

I turned and gave him a halfhearted artificial smile, my eyes filled with hurt. The look of sympathy reflected in his eyes.

Hesitation flickered in his expression

"Ask me what you want... I'll answer it." I said

"What.... What kind of line does your dad work in?"

"Well his legal job is being a CEO in a company and the other one is..."

"Assassination"

Sean's POV

Wait assassination??

She was an assassin?? That explains her jumping me when we first met.

"So you were an assassin." I commented

"Yeaaahh" she answered with a yawn.

She looked tired. I guess she is after all that she went through today she was bound to be.

"Hey, why don't you get some rest now. We'll figure it out tomorrow okay."

"You mean today?" She said with a sleepy face and a cheeky smile.

I look out the window it was still dark, but the clock showed 4:30 in digital numbers.

By the time I looked back towards her she was already asleep.

"Yep she's tired" I said to my self with a smile.

I carried her into my room being careful of her knee we just fixed and gently laid her in my bed. I covered her slowly and was about to leave when I felt a light tug on my t-shirt.

"Don't leave me alone please" came her shaky voice.

I turned to look at her to see her looking at me with half open eyes and a tear rolling down her cheek.

I couldn't think about my next move, i was just staring at her, her hand still tugging my t-shirt slightly. I bent down and captured her lips with mine briefly.

"Okay" I complied to her request. I lay down beside her, embarrassed as I did.

She moved closer to me and was soon lost in a deep sleep.

I just lay there an arm over her waist, thinking about what Kate had told me. She trusted me enough to tell me about her family. She said she was tortured by her dad's right hand man. I wonder what happened; She was an assassin. But why would her father want to kill her after training her and taking care of her for so long? She said he also kept her mother happy so what made him kill her?

I have to figure it out. Maybe I can use my contacts in dad's company to find out more. I want to help her.

I turned towards her taking in her beauty as she slept.

"I'll protect you." I mumbled

Soon I was asleep beside her in my bed. And I felt a peace I never felt before.

{Time skip to next day}

Ding Dong

"Hugh" why is there someone here this early? I thought

Dinngg Donngg

"Damn it" I cursed under my breath.

I slowly got up, careful not to wake Kate. She needed more sleep to revive her lost energy.

I went to the door and opened it.

My sleep disappeared when I saw what was before me.

No! This can't be happening

Was the thought that went through my head.
