Narrators POV.
Jake McKinley is a out and about "bachelor". He is a smooth fox and could pick up many girls, he works as a Detective. Jake is 31 and has a date almost every night, but is scared of commitment. This Is the story of this guy and a old lovers secret.
Jakes POV.
It was like any other morning, my eyes flickered open. There lay some girl I barely know. We both naked from the night before. I'm still fighting a hangover, I decide to slip on a robe and go make breakfast. Witch Was eggs and toast. The meal I eat the most for the morning. I think the girls name was Alissa. I sneaked a look into her purse to confirm it. Then went back to cooking.
"Hello Jake" Alissa announces
"Hey sexy" I reply
Then we kissed.
I served breakfast and we eat up our food. I got ready for work, and Alissa got ready to go back home.
I dropped her off and headed into work.
"Hey Jake" Talia my female partner said
"You seem happy today. Get lucky last night?" My coworker Trey asked
"None of your business, snoopy" I replied "but if you must know, Yes I did"
He smiled a I-knew-it smile and continued typing on the computer.
"Whats the case today, Miss Talia?" I questioned
"Lets go!, dead guy in a school fridge" my boss Garret shouts.
We grab our stuff and head to the cars.
The school was a huge scene, it was crazy. There was students everywhere. I interviewed the teacher who found the dead man. I found out that he was a teacher also, a 10th grade math teacher. His name was Mr. Cahwol.
After the interview, I collected evidence with Trey. Talia collected fingerprints and photos. Then we sent the evidence to be processed, with our ME. and forensics expert.
"Hey guys this is blood!" I yell out.
It was a drop of blood there was a trail. I followed them it led me out of the back door. There was a pool of blood,
"I think this was the kill spot" I continue
We finish up our work there and head back, my boss went out to grab coffee and we went back to our building.
The mail man came by, Trey was passing out mail. I saw a letter for me, I reached over and snacked it out of his hands.
"Hey!" Trey piped up "the last time you did that, you almost died"
"Yah yah yah" I nodded off his statement.
I ripped into the letter and started reading it, my face fell slowly. I knew my friends saw this.
"Are you okay?" Trey asked
"Everything okay?" Talia questions
I slowly shake my head no and walked out of the room. Talia ran up to me and pulled my arm.
"Jake" she whispered
"Grace is-" I stumble off
I went into the elevator and hit the down button. Grace I haven't seen her in forever, yes I got some letters lately but I never read them till now.
Grace was my old lover, in like collage. That was like six years ago, she left me about two years ago. I can't believe she has, no this can't be. I pull up to the hospital, I walk up to the front desk.
"I'm here to see Grace Alamine" I told the nice lady
She nodded and took me too her room,
When I walked in my heart dropped, she looked so sad, so flushed, so sick. I should have read those letters,
"Grace, I'm-" I began
"Please, don't speak. I need to explain, back when I left you, I-I was pregnant with your child. I was scared what you would say, I left. But now I'm going to die, really soon, I need u to take her." She interrupted me
A thousand thoughts went through my head, I had a child, my old lover is going to die. This was so much to process.
"She? Where is she?" I began again
"Yes her name is Penny and she's with my parents" Grace coughed out
"Ugh them" I complained
I hate her parents there so mean and rude! This was a big big responsibility but I had to take my own daughter.
"Wait where does she think I've been for the past three years?" I ask grace
"I told her you have been on holiday vacation, she's believed me." She told me
"Okay I'll take her." I smile
Grace leaned over and wrote down her parents house address and handed it to me.
"Thank you" she practically cried
I nodded and walked out back to my car. I drove to the address. this is going to be interesting, me and her parents...
