She is not like other girls, doesn't like going out, finds peace or whatever it is that loners find whenever they're alone and is not one that keen on having a social life or a relationship of any kind.
Tarrin Bridges is the kind of girl "everyone" adores (everyone meaning parents with teens who are the opposite of Tarrin). She does homework in time, doesn't hang out with dodgy boys or self-centered girls who thinks the world revolves around them.
Teens her age thinks she some kind of creepy weird girl with some issues not known or recognized to everyone.
What kind of human being is she to reject popularity, hot guys and a freaking social engagement with other people!!? That adds to the twisted secret life she leads.
But do they really know her like that? I mean, she does sound creepy, nerdy and weird alright, but she does have a shady thing going on with in her life that not even her parents can tell. She is unpredictable and scares the hell out of them! At least that's what Madeline thinks!
