Madeline's POV

I am still shaken up by yesterday's events. They keep playing in my head like a movie.
If only my life was a movie.

I don't know if I should tell anyone about last night.
I know for sure that Penny cannot keep a secret. That girl has a verbal diarrhea.
What about Jess? No, I can't. She'll think I've gone crazy.

I must have slept through my alarm because my mom had to wake me up.
I am going to be late for school. I lost my appetite at breakfast. Mom made pancakes. I love pancakes but I'm not hungry so I play with my food.
My mother studies me intently and I can feel her gaze on me.

"Maddy, are you ok my baby?", my mother asks me with a concerned look.
" I've never been better, mom!", I lie with a fake smile plastered on my face.
"Well, if you say so. It's just that you've been acting strange lately. It's not like you to sneak out of the house unannounced. Is it a boy?",she asks. Did she notice my absence again last night?
" Uhm...",before I can say anything she jumps into a conclusion,
"It has to do with a boy, doesn't it?I know you really want a proper relationship and it's okay if you do. It's not like I don't want you to date or anything but if you like the guy and he likes you too then why not, date. Remember to bring him to dinner once in a while. But, if you guys ever decide to have sex use protection and I can even teach you a few things or two about sex, you know what I mean?", she's gone far with this,
" Mom!!", I say in disgust ,
"What?!", she says with an amused grin
" Can we go now? I'm going to be late for school ", I say not wanting to continue this conversation.
If only she knew what really is going on that grin on her face will have to be wiped off the face of earth.
She really thinks I'm in a secretive relationship, doesn't she?

We leave the house and off to school. I wonder where dad was this morning. He didn't make it to breakfast.
Are they fighting again? This wouldn't be the first time they did.

I try not to think about it. I brush off the thought when I climb out of the car and rushes to class.
I make it to class fifteen minutes after the English class has already started.
As I enter the class everyone has their eyes on me, including Tarrin.
I try act normal and head to my desk without returning anyone's gaze.
I pull out my notepad and a pencil from my backpack and start scribbling.

The day passed by easily and had hardly noticed that school has ended. I have to admit that I'm a bit distracted and I think people are starting to notice by now.

Jess and Penny had cornered me in the girls bathroom at lunchtime bombarding me with questions.
" What happened to you this morning, Maddie?", Penny was the first to ask when I walk over to to the sink to wash my hands.

"Yeah Maddie, what's going on?", Jess butts in.
" Nothing to worry about girls", I say while fixing my hair and makeup on the mirror in front of me.
"Trouble at home? You know you can tell us, right? I know what it's like when parents are fighting or if things aren't going well. Especially when one person wants something else different from the other and they start looking outside of....",
Jess goes on explaining what had happened when her father left her mom for another woman but I do not pay attention to it as I'm too consumed by my own thoughts.
I will personally hunt you down and kill you...

" We are here for you Maddie",Penny says while she gently pats my back
"I know. Thank you guys", I say not wanting them to worry much and keep talking about it.
I just want to be alone.

After school I wanted to call my mom to come and pick me up but decided not to.
I should go straight home because I know  there are people watching me right now.
Earlier when I arrived to school I noticed a black SUV parked a few feet away from the school.
Is it the werewolves? Or is it him?
