I DIDN'T GO INTO GEIGER MARTIN'S house all alone. Yes, I preferred calling him Geiger Martin. I still can't grasp the fact that he was my sperm donor and I refuse to do so. Somehow all my hatred was directed to that man who must have probably merged in with the soil. I sighed, exhaustedly.I tagged Casper, the man who lived in the house opposite to the marooned mansion, along with me. He was at first reluctant to come in with me but with incessant persistence, he finally succumbed. It wasn't that I felt scared to go into the mansion all alone. I had completely forgotten to inform Ezra about my whereabouts and that implies no one really knows where I am right now. And it was highly likely for Jane to lurk in the shadows. It was also highly likely for her to grasp my neck and strangle me to death. After all she did promise me that my death would be more vicious than her own fate. I don't even want to imagine that!
If she did feel murderous than she already is and decides to end my story, then I would rot in this isolated house that once belonged to my biological father while everyone searched for me everywhere else. A few years later, I would be forgotten and my confused revengeful soul would continue Jane's legacy by taking revenge on poor random souls. The thought scared me from the moment it occurred to me.
Casper grumbled beside me, hating the fact that he was dragged into the whole mess. I felt slightly apologetic. I wouldn't even want to step into such a terrifying house even if I was bribed with a hundred bucks. To my gratefulness, the hundred bucks seemed to buy me Casper's company. Now, even if I get killed, I would get a proper burial. My mind buzzed. And that's only if Casper comes out alive.
"Did you inform someone that you are here?" I asked out of nowhere. The thirty five year old looked at me suddenly.
"No," He muttered.
"What about your wife?" I blurted.
"I live alone," He answered, rather angered at my question.
"Great. Now we both can haunt people together!" I said, accidentally voicing my thoughts. He gave me a look that questioned my sanity. I had the courtesy to blush.
"Why do you even want to search in this mess?" He asked, crossly.
"Thanks to someone's interruption the last time I came here, I couldn't complete my search," I replied, giving him a sidelong glance. He avoided my eyes.
"So why do you live alone?" I asked as I inserted the key into the rusty old padlock. With a large clank, the lock fell open to the floor. The door rumbled quite unpleasantly for not being opened after quite a few days.
"Because I like living alone," He deadpanned. I got the underlying meaning of his indifferent tone. 'Don't ask me personal questions!' It said. And I was totally fine with it.
The room was brightly lit by the sunlight even without the electric lights. The old antiquated beauty of the place amazed me. With a bit of cleaning and dusting, this place would be good as new. But the creepy aura of the house made my legs quite heavy and restrained me from moving ahead. I felt like I was being watched.
Casper wasn't a good company either, he didn't have the assuring strong feeling that Ezra radiated. He was just a fidgety blond stranger. I watched him warily as he screwed his little finger into his left ear. I sighed, realising that I shouldn't be expecting much from him. With shaky steps, I walked into the house. My footsteps echoed in the hollowness of the large house. The noises reverberated loudly in the stale air. I felt a shiver creep down my spine.
