EZRA SMILED AT ME briefly before turning to the tortured Scarlett. I looked down at the two bodies of Jill and Bethany that were slowly evaporating in the air. The unbearable stench still existed in the room but was easily ignored. My palliative relief had easily dissipated on seeing my sister being hurled across the kitchen.

Scarlett's forehead started bleeding a bit from being hit so much. Her screams and howls were drowned in Hailey's inhuman cries. Hailey's gaze was so impregnated with malice that it send shivers through my body. Ezra tried detaching Hailey from Scarlett but except for the scratches he received on his face, he wasn't able to do anything. He sighed exasperatedly. He clenched his fists tightly and looked up at me with determination that my pre existed courage was instilled all over again.

"We have got to hurry up," He announced. I nodded. He had a huge black bag over his sturdy shoulders. He laid it down and opened the zipper. After a thorough rummage, he retrieved a long shiny metallic chain that had a lock and key attached to its end from his bag.

"While I set up the apparatus to do exorcism, you have to bind Hailey's body with this. I know it's difficult but I know you can do it," He said, as he dangled the silver chain in front of my face. I nodded uncertainly but pulled it from his grasp.

"What good will it do?" I asked him as I tested the strength of the silver chains.

"These silver chains will bind Jane's soul to Hailey's body. She will not be able to transcend from her body," He answered.

"But getting her out of her body- isn't that what we are supposed to be doing?" I asked puzzled.

"James, this is no time for questions. Just do what I say!" He muttered as he walked to the centre of the room and began placing long glasses on the floor from his bag.

Binding a very wild and psychotic Hailey with silver chains was not difficult but impossible. She scratched and kicked at me, threatening to bite me by baring her bloodied teeth at me. My skin was soon marked by varying sizes of scratches. Each tear aroused a stinging pain in the cool kitchen air. The temperature of the room was slowly dropping to maybe sub zero levels. I shivered in my sleeveless shirt. My teeth chattered. The cold deterred my speed but I wasn't willing to give up. I looked over at Scarlett who was huddled in one corner with her legs drawn to her body. Her face was hid in the long curtain of yellow hair.

"Scarlett! Stand up from there and help me if you don't want mom to die!" I shouted at her. She looked up at me through the flowing wild strands of her hair. Few stray strands were stuck to her face by her tears. Her bloodshot eyes blinked at me before she slowly stood up to help me.

Low mucous guttural growls emanated from Hailey's possessed body as Scarlett and I neared her. Hailey's head was bowed and she stared at us through her pupil less eyes. Her face was a facade of evil in it's purest form. Loud raspy gasps as if she was trying to take long breaths were heard before it broke out into laughter. Cruel yet childlike laughter. Scarlett and I stopped in our tracks.

"You imbeciles, do you think you can hurt me? Well, go ahead and try! Because it's your mommy who is going to die," Jane spoke through Hailey's voice in a musical cadence. Hailey crouched slightly with her legs apart and bent. It was evident from her position that she was going to pounce on one of us. Hailey cocked her head repeatedly staring at the both us as if she was confused on which of us to jump on.

I felt really scared. My hands shook and the metallic chain threatened to fall from my fingers. Scarlett looked equally scared. She was gulping loudly. Strong random cold winds blew across the room, knocking down the carefully arranged glasses into which Ezra was pouring water. The water spilled on the floor continuously. Ezra looked least bothered by it. His calm and collected nature appealed to me. Ezra took out the bible from his bag when it was becoming too unmanageable. The bible caught fire on one side. He took a sharp breath as he muttered some words. The winds calmed down and the fire extinguished, putting me in awe.
