I woke up feeling weak but shrugged it off. "I'll drink some medicine after breakfast." I said to myself. I took a quick shower and headed down stairs. The house was empty and cold and although it's been weeks since the deportation, I wasn't use to it. I started to make myself breakfast but every second that went by, I felt weaker as if my bones lost its strength. I hold on to the microwave, next to the stove, as support. When I had a little more strength, I brought a chair from the dining room and sat down in front of the stove. I brought my knees up and hugged my body. Tears started to fall as the pain grew even more. "Fuck" I cursed under my breathe. At this moment, I was hoping for Joel to burst in through the doors but he didn't. I winced in pain not knowing what body part to hold since everything ache.
"Joel!" I yelled in hope. "Joel!" I started to cry as the pain was getting stronger.
"Amelia?" I heard Gabriel shout.
"Get your mother!" I manage to say as I felt tears fall. "Please! And hurry!" I heard the door shut meaning he ran inside. In a couple of minutes, Patty, Joel, Emanuel and Gabriel came over.
"Sweetie!" Patty came running towards me and helped me up. "You're so pale."
"My body hurts." I cried. "Everything. I can't move."
"Call the ambulance!" Patty said pointing to Emanuel. "Joel ayúdame."
Joel was deep in his thoughts and it seemed as if someone had sucked the color out of him. He turned pale as his eyes got watery.
"Joel!" Patty shouted at him as she struggled with my body. He snapped out of his thoughts and came towards us. They helped me lay down on the couch but that only made me sleepy. "Mantenga los ojos abiertos. No los cierres." Patty said.
I looked around and everything started to get blurry. I saw three men walk in a rush as I felt my eyes close slowly.
"Amelia! Abre los ojos!"
